I get it... everyone dumping on Pressly but in this case I blame the Astros organization. He was on the IL for 19 days or something. Throws 6 pitches in a rehab assignment and you bring him back right into a save situation? Why? The bullpen was doing fine. He should have thrown a couple more games in AAA. See if that velocity comes back some and give him a chance to sharpen his command in real games. Plus, the Space Cowboys are in Sugar Land right now... it's less than a hour drive from Minute Maid.
Yeah, I'm a big Pressly fan but he shouldn't have been rushed back much less be in a save situation. Bullpen is doing fine during his absence. Let him get his FB velo back to 94-95 like we're accustomed too and get his legs under him.
If you gotta bring him in last night, I woulda done it after the first out, if the bases were empty, or perhaps even after the second out. I thought it was a tall order to get all 3 on his first day back.
I just wonder if a poll was taken before the game whether Pressly should pitch in a save situation last night what the consensus would be Nobody said anything when he was warming or when he entered the game
At home in May against the Tigers is about as low level a save situation as it gets. If he was deemed healthy than might as well throw him out there.
He had a mansion (maybe still does) in West Houston about 20 years ago. His fish tank had sharks in it
