Props to Wandy for not collapsing after a bad couple of innings. It's good to see him respond well. On another note, it looks the Astros finally cut ties with Backe.
Barry Bonds comes to mind, also some of those speedy dudes on the Red Sox for Ortiz, very unusual though.
I didn't hear that part. I just saw them interviewing him at his locker. I'm guessing DFA. I can't find anything yet on Chron.com or Astros.com.
lol that dude predicts 12-4 into the break to finish 5 over .500. I'd absolutely LOVE that! But I'm thinking not. Great win tonight, though! I certainly wasn't expecting a W.
All the people that wanted to clean house at the deadline can forget that now. Drayton probably still believes this team can make the postseason.
I'm glad we won tonight, but this is killing me. Our top 2 leaders in OBP (Berkman and Pence) are batting 5th and 6th in our lineup
I totally agree. I'd bat Berkman 2nd before 5th if Cooper doesn't want him hitting 3rd or 4th. Even in a "down year," Berkman still gets on base at an elite level. He also hits for power and can drive runs in but I'd rather take advantage of his high OBP and let somebody else try to drive in the runs. As well as Tejada has hit this season, he's fast approaching a league average OBP. I'd like to see this: Bourn Pence Berkman Lee Miggy etc... I'd even prefer... Bourn Berkman Pence Lee Miggy etc... over what we're doing now. Miggy isn't an ideal 5 hitter but we don't have the personnel to put together a perfect lineup. We need to take advantage of Berkman and Pence getting on base and sacrifice some of their RBI opportunites since nobody else really comes close to them in terms of getting on base other than Bourn who needs to be at the top.
hahaha. man, i responded too early on a saturday for that to even click. that's some funny stuff. i'm an idiot (but not as dumb as Red Chocolate )
There are black people in all parts of the world. Ortiz' ethnicity is Dominican but there is no question he is at least partially black in terms of race. Regardless, he's a fat ass and you'll see people running for him at times.
Generally, when one is referred to as "black", the implication is they are African-American. Ortiz is not African-American.
