That’s fine but they are 8x more likely to miss the playoffs than make them. It’s Crane’s $1B asset; if he wants to throw good money after bad that’s his prerogative but it’s my prerogative to think that’s ****ing stupid.
It is ****ing stupid. It’s the job of the people around him to tell him it’s stupid too. The Astros could add the top OF bat and reliever and fail to make the playoffs or get swept in round 1.
The Astros aren’t a 95 win level talented team anymore. They can’t afford to run out a Tony LaRussa Sunday day game after a night game line up anymore. I don’t know what he is doing. Maybe he will eventually pivot or maybe he underestimates how unusual the last 11-12 years of success has been.
