Ye Li is the key factor for women CNT, just as Sura in Rockets. Ye Li plays extremely hard. She can rebound well, break through and shoot the 3. I have to say she is more tougher than Yao physically and mentally. I am her fans even before knowning that she is Yao's girlfriend. Too bad, her injury is so sever and I am not sure if she will play again. Without Ye Li, the CNT dropped to 12th in the tournament. just as Rockets last season.

Totally agree. Now her coach and teammates miss her so much after the CNT got the 12th in the WC, the worst result ever.

Ye Li played the center/forward postion for CWNT, so she was more like Battier than Sura in that sense. Her role and stats on her team could easily beat those of Battier and Sura on their respective teams, but would in absolutely no way dwarf Yao's. ;)

Ye and Yao's kids will get good genes from their parents, for sure.

He compared Ye to Sura in terms of hard-nosed play and tough attitude.

I'd imagine Battier plays no 'softball' either.

Yao Ming received another honor yesterday....

It was the 10th year anniversary of the Asian Amercian Studies Centre of the University of Houston.

To acknowledge Yao Ming's contribution in bridging and promoting friendship between USA and China, he was awarded the University of Houston President Medal.

Some 450 celebrities including the Chinese consulate in Houston, Mr. Hua Jinzhou and the Chancellor of University of Houston were present at the award ceremony held at the Hilton Hotel within University of Houston. Yao Ming was the Chief Guest of Honour, sat at the middle of the head table, between the Chinese consulate and the Chancellor of University of Houston.

Yao Ming in his thank-you speech expressed that he will continue to use his best efforts to make more contribution to Sino-American culture and sports, and said: "I wish I can be a good textbook not only limited to the basketball sports."

No. 11, Yao's Rockets Red uniform, surely has been the center of most attentions even when Yao himself was not involved in some of the events.

I don't know anyone else has noticed, in the Macromedia Flash Player section of the front page of ClutchFans.net, there is a photo showing Mister Van Gundy holding a Rockets jersey labelled "PUNK'D 11" in front of his chest, while flanked by Les Alexander and a smiling Jerry West.

Undoubtedly it is aimed at poking fun at the Rockets management that supposedly got the short end of the stick in the trade that sent the 1st round draft pick Gay along with Stro to the Grizzlies for Battier.

But why No. 11? To signify the magnitude (Yao-sized  ) of the sucker punch the Rockets took wrt the trade?

The #11 jersey was there for a reason this time..........

US$ 5,000 (from the auction of the jersey + 2 autographed basketballs) + proceeds from the gala will pump more fund into the development of Asian American Studies courses, research projects, study-abroad and scholar-exchange programs, and community activities.

As tomorrow (October 3) signifies the opening of the training camp and preseason games, and then the new season, therefore the 2006 "Summer" (i.e. off-season) for Yao Ming is going to be over. It also signifies the successful completion of yet another year of this special "summer" project for me.

I would like to thank for the support (reflected in the viewership) rendered me throughout the past 5 months. And I was really glad that there was a total of over 250,000 readership in YMM, RealGM and here for this thread of mine (as it was the first year that I created this thread outside of YMM onto other Rockets/Yao Ming fan sites).

So should I come back next year ?? :D
