Did they show Reggie Bush's other 5 carries where he exploded for 15 yards total?

3 yards per carry is pretty good. Especially for a guy "who can't run between the tackles". But anyways that isn't the point. The point is that Bush was significantally faster than a first team NFL defense when he turned that corner. A lot of idiots said he wouldn't be able to do that in the NFL.

You don't think there's anyway that defenses learn how to defend Bush? The NFL ain't the Pac-10.

Wasn't he playing against the Titans' second team defense as well?

No comment on other matters, but - no, 3 yards per carry is pretty bad, actually.

look, I don't care about reggie bush, but you can't subtract his big play. that's the whole reason he's the prospect he is first of all, we know that. barry sanders had plenty of games like that. a lot of running backs do. i mean if the guy mixed in 4.5 yards a carry, with an occassional 50 yard run, he already be the best back in history.

getting 4-5 yards a carry on non big plays, and busting the big plays is what he did at usc. you can't expect him to do that in the nfl.

No, I know. Was responding strictly and only to the assertion that three yards per carry is good.

but in truth, he averaged about 7 yards per carry. because he actually DID have that run.

look, i've been a bush detractor. but if this is what we're gonna see from him as a pro, THEN I WAS JUST FLAT OUT WRONG. he will be very special if this is just a glimpse of what the saints are gonna get from him.

I'll come back to this at the end of the season and we can talk about it more in detail then. OK? Thread bookmarked.

OK. I think he'll be a decent back. I don't think he'll be as spectacular as many believe. But I could definitely be wrong.

At least if he is, people can at least base the slarving on something other than potential.

Someone should really create a thread Bush/young progress and put all the things said so far in it and we can monitor it thru the season.

    • Bush can't run between the tackles
Young isn't smart enough to play qb in the NFL
Bush is a glorified kick returner
Bush isn't an every down back
      Young has poor throwing mechanics
      Leinart is better than Young
Young can't run in the NFL the way he did in college
Bush has character issues/is money hungry
Defenses will learn how to stop Bush - "the NFL isn't the Pac-10"
Young only threw to wide open receivers at Texas...
      etc, etc

Well, if you are going to make lists, then include the following:

    Vince Young is God.
    Reggie Bush is God.
Both are almost equal to Chuck Norris.

    Also include:

-Bush got lucky on his run because VandenBosch made an absolutely stupid pre-season mistake that wouldn't even be expected out of a 5th stringer.

Actually, a high-schooler. Weakside pursuit is "As deep as the deepest back!"
