With a signature like that, it is very difficult to ascribe any credibility whatsoever to your post.

5 sacks for the D. Secondary wasn't nearly as weak as I was fearing. LB look solid, if unspectacular. DLine could get more run stoppage up the middle (not impressed with TJ/Robaire combo...that Cochran kid looks good, though). Slowly getting optimistic that we might just hit 7 wins again this year...

Williams was being double teamed virtually the entire time. Face it. Until someone from the other side proves he can rush the QB, Mario is going to face a double team and be rendered relatively ineffective. I have no problem with his game tonight because he did what he was supposed to. Not his fault that he's playing 1 on 2.

As for Carr, he had one very bad throw, one moderately bad throw and ran for quite a few yards. The reality is that he is going to be maligned by many people until he is gone from Houston or single-handedly wins a Super Bowl. He wasn't great, but I'm not going to panic after one game and one bad throw. This system is ideal for him and as long as the offense is successful as a whole, I personally don't care who is at QB.

I think Spencer will end up with the starting job. They could not run behind Wand at all and Spencer looked very solid.

The pass protection was excellent and Wali Lundy was outstanding. If I were Davis, I strap on those pads about now. This CORRECT version of the zone blocking scheme is going to do wonders for the running game.

The defense was really aggressive and there was definitely some over-pursuit pretty common for this time of year. Ryans had his ups and downs, looking great and speedy one play and missing an assignment the next. Typical rookies. Shantee Orr looked solid as hell again this year.

The best news: no more injuries. Jason Simmons (another DB???) went down but I saw him back in the game later, so it must not have been serious.

Really? The times I watched he was getting OWNED by some guy that has been out of the league for like 2 years. They also showed that on ESPN. Sure they might want to make us look bad, but 1 assisted tackle? Ugh.

Come on guys. 11 freakin' plays!!! You're going to rip on a guy 'cause he didn't make the highlight reel after 11 plays? Some of you sound like he should have had 5 tackles, 2 sacks, and a forced fumble. I would have liked to see more of him but whatever, I'm not worried.

Bob Allen to Flanagan: "Do you see any similarities between Brett Favre and David Carr"?

    Flanagan: "They're quarterbacks".

    That was classic.

Reggie Bush has one great play. ESPN saying that Mario Williams getting so-called PWNED.

Umm, guys, it's the 1st game of the pre-season. I gotta see them play when it actually counts.

To fight back with the ridiculousness:

    Wali Lundy: 1 TD
    Reggie Bush: 0 TD

I don't think it's unfair to point out that both Rosenfels and Porter looked a lot better than Carr out there. I was a little shocked to see that really.

    Castor,

Can we get another thread dedicated to Bush/Young updates so we don't have to deal with folks hijacking game threads with updates on players who have nothing to do with that game?

    Thanks ahead of time.

I was happy with the way the Texans looked last night. Let's give them some time to develop. The system is still new.

thank you! if it weren't for the fact that we know he's a DE, people were probably expecting him to intercept 3 passes too.

I also don't think it's unfair to point out that Carr played half his plays with Antwan Smith, who looked old and slow, as running back and both Rosenfelds and Porter didn't have to play against the first-team defense of KC.

At this point in the preseason, I was just surprised at how organized the offense looked. Most first preseason games are a disaster with tons of penalties, disorganization and confusion all over the place. They looked remarkably organized and comfortable for the first game.

Also, I think it should be noted that Carr's athletic ability WILL help this team. Just because he doesn't throw on every naked bootleg doesn't make that play a failure. The goal is to move the chains by whatever means necessary. If he can do that and be successful with both his legs and his arm, I'm fine with that.

For me, I'm a fan, so I'm pulling for them to be great - Carr included. I'm not going to go through the season complaining about what we should've done (not that you did, CometsWin) and posting Reggie Bush or Vince Young highlights. It's pointless. I'd rather focus my attention on the Texans.
