I doubt it would shut anyone up, they'd find a way to turn it into either something that wasn't impressive or a negative just like everything else. Win the division 3 out of 5 seasons? Ho hum. Beat the Chiefs that everyone said would beat the Texans? Meh, they aren't actually any good. It's just how some people are.
A Vikings win would be very impressive; heck, it would be the best win this team has had since BOB became coach. Zimmer is 13-1 as a favorite with the Vikings; their only let down was last year @ SF on MNF. Very well-coached team.
No rose colored glasses here. I expect us to lose. But I wouldn't be surprised if we won. Well....actually I would...... I just get tired of people spinning so much to try and convince everyone that a 4-0 team is so much better than a 3-1 team in the NFL. That's just not the case. If this game is at NRG, I would pick us to win. This happens every year. None of our wins really count because they weren't on prime time TV or they weren't against elite QBs or the other team had a bad day, or one of our TDs came from the defense, etc etc etc. People here just seem to work so hard to discredit our wins. I just don't get it.
My guess for how a win would be made to seem unimpressive would be that in that scenario it's likely that Sam Bradford had a bad game, his first bad game as a Viking. People would say that it was just a matter of time before he played poorly and that the only reason the Vikings lost was due to injuries.
So when the titans "gifted" us a ST touchdown? Cmon man Titans were dominating the Vikings until defense finally stepped up. Walsh missed FGs, so did Novak... Im willing to give panthers benefit of the doubt. Now let me try: Hmm, new QB, and about 5 new players on offense, plus an injured OLine... Our offense was vanilla those first 2 games so count them as bigger wins. Thank goodness we are counting ST scores as gifts and a simple error on the other team.. We only lost to Patriots 13-0? Interesting Novak missed a FG, otherwise we wouldnt even need that "gifted" PR Saints suck. don't care how you want to spin that game... All in all, I know the Vikings are good, I just wish people would talk about the good parts of their team and the matchups rather than "they beat so and so and we beat nobody so that means we suck and they are awesome"
Just to repeat, I'm also without rose colored glasses. I think this might be our hardest game of the season (hoping we are clicking by the time we go to Denver) And I would not be upset or surprised by a loss, I would like to keep it close or at least have Brock look better. Its just the way ppl are comparing the teams that irks me. (I think that's how you spell irks...)
At this point now, I just want to get this game over with. It's so tiring listening to meaningless banter about how the Texans are the worst 3-1 team in the league, and the Vikings are curbstomping the entire league with their defense. I'm not even talking about this thread......the national media is doing the same thing. Line 'em up, and see how the chips fall on Sunday.
It would be annoying if Bradford didnt have a bad game. I fully expect our defense to create major issues for the Vikings offense. The only disappointment would be us getting blown out with Bradford dominating us. Win or lose, as long as it's competitive...is a good sign for the Texans.
Can't erase a W but you can put them in context. I can anyway. The wins we're not impressive wins and the loss was devastating. I expect to be 3-2 after Sunday's game but if they win it will be an impressive one. No way someone could prove it hollow. This Vikings team is good. Squeaking out a win would be great. Squeaking by the Titans on a special teams return, eh, not so much. The chiefs win just didn't turn the wheel. not as much as the patriots loss hit the brakes.
Same way if we get embarrassed, same positive posters will underplay it. Texans franchise isn't working from a position of strength in doubt-benefit. They're many factors when critiquing situations. We'll see what actually happens on the field and who says what.
I don't think that really happens. If the Texans lose badly, you'll have some jumping off of bridges wanting everyone fired and for the Owner to sell the team and move it to the sticks like Bud Adams did.....and then you'll have some trying to talk them down off the ledge by pointing out that it's just one game and that there's time to bounce back.
Frankly, I've long wanted a new owner. Thing is, posters say X player or the team is CURRENTLY underperforming, then the positive guys act like almost nothing happened. The "negative" guy doesn't say said situation is doomed, they only said things are CURRENTLY subpar. I think both extremes exist. Hope nobody cheers against the team/players so they can win an argument though.. not saying you do specifically.
Anyone that doesn't have a dart stuck in their forehead wants McNair and his shitty family and cronies gone. The best thing that could happen to the Texans franchise is to get ownership that isn't satisfied with owning a mediocre football team.
The man is an inept owner and he has created an environment where the GM and coaches are making short term decisions to save their asses for one more year. Hence the dumb contracts, crappy draft day trades and disregard for player health. But hey he hires consultants to tell him what he wants to hear every offseason! That he kept Rick Smith over Gary Kubiak is pretty amazing when you think about it. I will say the fan experience and marketing is pretty good, way better than the Rockets. I always have a good time at Texans games outside of the traffic. At rockets games I feel like someone is trying to rip me off.
Vikings with a great defense and solid running game. Their defense reminds me of 2015 Panthers. Brock will do his usual and turn the ball over Texans 10 Vikings 26
They have the worst running game in the league. Ours is much better, believe it or not. Their passing game is better than the Texans by a margin of 20 yards, and the fact that they haven't turned it over. Other than that, and four more sacks, these teams are basically the same statically, which is what I've been saying. Hell, you can make an argument our defense is better. We've forced one more fumble, but four less ints. Yardage wise, I believe we are better. At least in the passing game. Take away their passing game, and they won't do much. That ahould be the game plan. It shouldn't be hard to do with our defense, either. No reason we can't win the game.
