The Texans defense should be fine. The key is going to be how the Texans offense does against the Vikings defense. I would say they can't afford turnovers but if that is what it takes for multiple big plays, I'll take 2 interceptions if it means 4 touchdown passes.
IMO the Texans should avoid throwing it to Hopkins instead focusing on guys like Braxton Miller and the TE's to move the chains and a couple shots at Fuller over the top. The VIkings simply have too good a defense to risk passing to Hopkins. If they avoid that then they avoid turnovers and should have a shot in this one. I still expect the Vikings to win, but hopefully it'll be a good game.
If Brock Osweiler does NOT play like Ryan Mallet 2.0 and Lamar Miller does NOT run blindly between the tackles like Trent Richardson, we might have a chance to win this game. So far our 2 biggest FA additions on offense are so far looking like the 2 biggest weaknesses on the team.
I don't like that most people here have a scared mentality. Vikings are a very good defensive team but their offense is mediocre at best. Vikings have to play near perfect game defensively, just to keep it a low scoring game. Texans are the better overall team that can beat anyone with their offense, defense and now special teams with fuller returning punts.
Diggs doubtful. Prob see a lot more Rudolph in the passing game and plays for CP84 as well. Maybe even Treadwell will get some burn. Still not going to take them lightly. They have an elite defense. Zimmer is a great coach and Turner has opened up the playbook now that AP is out. That home field is one of the better ones in the league as well. Up there with the Seahawks and Chiefs.
Wait, are you kidding about the Titans game? Um, to be fair... their offense didnt score a point I don't think. Yea, their Defense is good, but we put up 27 points, they put up ZERO. I mean, if we are going to compare that game. They also had this guy named Adrian Peterson.
Also, until the Panthers beat anyone but the 49ers, are they a good team? The Giants beat the Cowboys (by a single freaking point and that was mainly because the receiver didnt know how clock management works) and the Saints by a field goal... I mean if we are going to question each of the Texans wins as crap teams, look at who the vikings have played... Just the packers, maaaaybe the panthers. I'd say we beat the titans by more than they did.
what is our offense at best? we get off to good starts and slow down fast. we make mistakes on offense. our defense is good, but nothing more.
They had a 78 yard TD drive (big 60 yard pass play). A 39 yard "drive" following an interception. Their 2 FGs followed a 7 play and 13 play drive.
Is the 78 yd TD drive supposed to count less because it included a long pass in it? When was the last time a Texan QB bombed a pass down the field? INT didnt score, the offense did. FG are still points, which is more than the Vikings offense put up. I'm not understanding where you are going with this? I don't care if we got one field goal and beat them 3-0. Our offense scored against the "lowly" titans. The Vikings did not score a single offensive point. If our Defense scored 25 pts against the Patriots and we still lost, ppl would still be complaining our offense sucks. Not saying Vikings are a bad team or that we are better on either side of the ball, but everyone is comparing their "tough" wins to our "easy wins" and the most similar between the 2 teams showed us doing WAY more offensively and them doing much more defensively..
Vikings are criminally underrated still, just like they were last year. Their defense isn't just "good," it's elite. They held the Packers to 14, the Panthers to 10 (impressive when you consider the Panthers were cruising up 10-0 w/ 50 min left to play until the defense took over), and the Giants to 10. We put up 0 points against a worse defense. How did we beat the Titans more than they did when it was a tied game before the Fuller PR? The whole fourth quarter was a one possession game, and they gifted us 6 points on special teams with penalties. What is your point about the offense? Yes their (completely different) offense was garbage and vanilla in week 1, which makes their victory even more dominating. AP is washed up, and him being out is actually good for the Vikings offense, because it opens up their playbook (which also makes their acquisition of Bradford an even better move). Walsh was also 4/6 on field goals and missed an extra point. The Titans got a garbage time score at the end of the game. It really could've been 32-10. Our defense gave up 20 to the same Titans. Panthers are 1-3 but have lost to the Vikings/Broncos (both 4-0) and the Falcons (3-1). Giants are 2-2 and their wins are much better than the box score indicates, especially that Saints game. At the end of the game, if they had scored a TD from the 1 instead of running out the clock to kick a field goal, would that be more convincing for you? And Pack are the Pack. Meanwhile we beat a bottom 5 team (Bears), good win vs the Chiefs (who could easily be 1-3 if the Chargers didn't choke), and shutout by the Patriots. If we are just purely talking about quality of wins, is it that hard to see how their wins are better?
I don't think we are without chance to beat the Vikings. We all want the same thing, which is for the Texans to win, but sorry for trying to be objective and not having rose-colored glasses on all the time. If anything, a win over the Vikings will shut up a lot of non-believers. And if you don't think the Vikings are as good as they are based on their wins, then I guess the win means little, right? *shrug*
