In the sense that he was the QB to throw the game winning TD in the Bengals game and he was the QB during the entirety of the Jets game, it's accurate. The Texans lose both of those games if Hoyer stays in the Bengals game and plays the Jets game.
Hoyer. Lechler is a punter, not a QB. Now if it's Hoyer vs damn near any actual QB, things are probably different.
In the sense he's the one that threw the Tds to Hopkins, Yeah. Not counting the Defense since this was clearly QB talk. If that's the case then you can't say Hoyer won games either. Right?
texans shoulda paid a little extra cash for pierre thomas. was great tonight right off the streets. i still have zero understanding of how he wasn't able to get a job this year.
Run those numbers in games they both played in and see what you come up with. Otherwise you are just comparing apples to oranges.
You mean the game that Yates was 5-11 and Hoyer was 12-22? Yates did throw that touchdown that everyone will admit was not a great throw but a great catch. That is not apples vs apples either. Who did the defense game-plan for? What type of defense was played against Hoyer and Yates? Who was more banged up? Please don't play this game with me. My argument is never really for Hoyer. Couldn't stand the signing and still think it was a bad move but to argue that Yates or Mallet have been better is just ridiculous.
The game where Hoyer threw nothing but an interception and Yates threw the TD that sealed the win. You remember that one right? You do have a point that game planning for Hoyer means that the defense was expecting to go against an absolutely pathetic QB that was no threat to pass the ball on them and when he got hurt, they weren't ready for a QB that could pass the ball.
If 5-11 for 69 yards is your standard for passing well...sigh. By the way, Hoyer led the Browns (yes the Browns whose top receiver was Miles Austin) over the Bengals last year in prime time.
Mallet is terrible. Hoyer is average. Yates and Weeden will always be backups. It's settled. Let's move on.
Re: Weeden, it will be interesting to see how the offense runs with him now that he got a full week of practice with the 1's. In Dallas, he had a real high completion percentage, and the complaint was that he it was a dink and dunk with a lot of checkdowns. I think BO'B would take that from his QB given the circumstances, but it will be really important for the WRs and TEs to make the catch and break a tackle. If the guys can't do that, you'll see a lot of 5 yard gains on 3rd and 6. I hope Hop or Strong can make a guy miss and break a long one. The TEs need to really focus on completing the catch before they look to cut upfield.
