This. Even people over at 790 have said their 'sources' have told them the McNair has told them to trade up if need be.
Didn't realize it was that easy to get a franchise QB. Any QB they trade for most likely will not be a franchise QB. If the Texans are trading up from 21st to the top 6-7 for Lynch or Goff it would cost them probably an RGIII type deal. 1st round picks in 2016, 2017, and 2018. Not willing to risk that on those guys.
I don't think they really need a "franchise QB", we saw that they were able to be good enough with total garbage QB's like they've had this year. All they need is a passable, nearing average, type QB and they'd be set.

I'm going to be very disappointed if we go back to the dink and dunk **** when Hoyer comes back. Weeden sorta played that way in the first half but went balls out in 2nd half (same for the Colts game). Hoyer consistently does it the whole game, even when the Texans get down big.
Awesome BLOWOUT victory vs Tennessee Texans now have a positive point-diff (+2) for the season. IMO.. 9-7 would be a respectable division-winning, season, and playoff record... 8-8, not so much. Still a great opportunity regardless once you're in.
Hoyer has just about the same yards per attempt as Weeden. Weeden 7.3 Hoyer 7.2 Yates 6.5 Mallett 5.2
Trading up is a disaster most of the time. Look what happened with Strong and Nix. The analytics guys have a lot of data saying its usually a bad move We're screwed.
That's what they had last year - with an elite RB too - and did no better. They are "good enough" this year because of an obscenely easy schedule, thanks to the division - same as last year, and maybe same as next year. But at some point, Jax and Tennessee will become non-terrible, giving up the 4 easy wins that they've been relying on. And Indy actually will have their QB back - they won 7 or 8 games despite their franchise QB being a total bust this year.

Like Tom Brady...the king of dink and dunk? That's the system. Take what the defense gives you and keep the ball moving forward. I don't know why this is viewed as a bad thing. Hoyer does take the occasional deep shot to keep them honest. DISCLAIMER: I AM IN NO WAY SAYING THAT BRIAN HOYER IS ON THE LEVEL OF TOM BRADY. I AM ONLY SAYING THAT THIS IS WHAT THE SYSTEM IS.
Hoyers y/a is good Fitz was similar Weedens was good this game Yates was slightly below average Mallets was almost as low as Bell's rushing yards per attempt
