Who is saying that Cowher wants to coach again? He left a stacked team so he could get away from the game.
Cowher is waiting for the Panthers job to open up. He lives in North Carolina and so he would be close to his family. If John Fox sticks with Delhomme much longer we may see Spitting Bill on the sidelines sooner rather than later.
He left to spend time with his family, but it's pretty much a given he will coach again. He talked to the Jets last year about taking their job and turned them down.
Looking at fantasy stats for the week, and it shows that Schaub is listed as probable. I'd rather him take a week off if it means he'll get some mobility and proper throwing form back.
I was able to watch the Texans this past Sunday and there are so many things that need to be corrected b/f this game...Unfortunately, I don't think they'll be able to correct them by Sunday... Texans: 21 Titans: 27
Agree. He has absolutely no ties to this area of the country and let's be real here: why would Cowher want to coach here anyway? I mean, if he comes here, it will mean a total offensive rebuild because he's not a proponent of the Denver ZBS system that sunk the good ship Kubiak. He's also a proponent of the 3-4 defense so here we go again down that road. Best guess scenario if he takes over in 2010 would be 2-3 years or rebuilding so now we are looking at 2012 or 2013 before this team is ready to challenge for a playoff spot. Not a good situation at all.
Did we ever straighten out the issue of if Schaub is "allowed" to audible at the line of scrimmage, Charlie P was gonna ask Kubes point blank. If he is not, it's a really telling bad sign.
Rep points for you, sir. This game could get OUT OF HAND by the end of the first quarter. It's going to be hard NOT to watch. I'm addicted to train wrecks, apparently... Tacks - 31 Toros - 9
which would immediately marginalize our best defensive player. cowher would be an *awful* fit here. i've said it before - if kubiak is jettisoned, they'd be absolute fools not to at least entertain the idea that shannahan would be an upgrade as a coach and have everything in place to succeed. otherwise, yeah - we're looking at having to tear down some of this and start over........
Well you know my feelings about Shannahan and his Denver system so were that to happen, I foresee more years of the same thing we have now. Something about those who fail to learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them. Anyway, I'm starting to believe that this year represents a critical turning point in this franchise's history. So much is riding on this season and they can no longer offer lipservice - this year they have to show concrete progress on the field or else. If Kubiak fails to succeed here and a new coach is brought in, then they are facing another 2-4 year rebuilding period. Now we are up around 2013 or 2014 and beginning to resemble the NO or Tampa Bay expansion teams who stumbled and bumbled their way through the NFL wilderness for decades.
I think Ric is looking at a coach who could best utilize the players and systems currently in place here. Another coach (read not of the Denver school of football) would bring in a different offensive and defensive philosophy in terms of players/coaches which would require a(nother) massive rebuilding effort that would eat up another 2-4 years.
Shanahan/Denver really didn't seem impressive once Kubiak and Gibbs left. They did put up a lot of yards last year but we all know how the defense was. I think we'd be looking at more of the same with Shanahan- mediocrity. I think the ideal scenario would be to get a more defensive minded HC and an OC to completely run the offense but with a style that would easily adapt to the guys we have. That way we're not completely blowing it up again. Don't know who those guys would be though. If we did start over, Brian Billick might be my first choice (even though he's not necessarily a def. minded coach) Here's to hoping we pull off a stunner this weekend and don't have to talk about it for a while.
Casserly must be their GM. A man throws 5 int vs the Cards in the playoffs and u give him 5yrs 42mil with 20 of it guaranteed. Wow!!
I like kubiak...i just think he needs to hire a big name defensive coordinator. His offense is awesome..(not including sunday) but we need a real def. coordinator...not from in house either..I hope that we win sunday and turn this thing around real fast, because otherwise, its another 8-8 season.
My gut tells me that if the Texans lose their first two games of the season, they can kiss their playoff hopes goodbye.
