Shaub made some pretty idiotic plays this game... there was some bad play calling also the o-line was piss poor but that could have been avoided if they ran a couple plays out of shot gun... and looking for andre johnson over and over was a bad idea... Walker should have been looked at more than Johnson walker runs perfect routes not to mention the middle of the secondary was weak just that the horrible play calling and game management for the Texas *****ed this up like chuck hayes shooting a 3... i'm about ready to join the sage bandwagon
I think you give Matt Carr one more start next week and if he stinks it up, yank him and put in Sage. If Sage gives the offense a lift against the Colts, name him the starter. I think Schaub has to be given every chance to succeed before making a change, but Kubiak can't sacrifice the entire season for the guy. Count me in with those who think Kubiak's play calling is questionable.
What pisses me off the most is that the Texans SHOULD have won this game. I was defending Schaub until today. The defense played a fantastic 2nd half to give the offense every chance to win this game. Schaub did nothing but give up. Maybe Haynesworth was right. Maybe Schaub is scared. He sure as hell looked like it. Sage Rosenfels should be named the starter next week. On a positive note, Steve Slaton is the real deal. That was a fantastic game he had. Also, the defense had a great 2nd half, forcing punt after punt and only giving up the 1 field goal.
Sucks to see so many short passes again, like in Carr's last season. Everything thrown beyond the first down marker seemed to be too high, too far out, or just impossible to catch. (were a few drops...but would have been tough catches). Slayton, looked awesome today. Loved his game. He ran all over the Titans.
Well, a rattled and inaccurate Matt Schaub is completely useless. He just doesn't have the athletic ability to make plays when things break down. I thought the offense would struggle these first few weeks, but Schaub's lack of poise is alarming. It had to hurt that he had a touchdown pass dropped, but he could have had *two* interceptions run back. He didn't merely look rusty- he had that David Carr-like panic to his play. They should burn the #8 jersey at midfield and try a new number for the starting QB. The crap storm extends to much of the team, though. Even Andre Johnson played poorly. Where is Amobi Okoye? If he is a quick defensive tackle, why don't they have him use his speed to his advantage? Why is Richard Smith employed? What happened to the special teams that were actually good last year? What happened to Gary Kubiak's in-game decision making ability? He's like George Costanza with the red flag...whatever his first instinct is, he should go the other way. Having said all of this, I think it is important not to panic too much right now. These games were expected losses, the hurricane didn't do the team (or fans) any favors and they still have enough talent to make the playoffs considering all of the turmoil in the AFC this year. Jacksonville, New England, Cleveland and Indianapolis are all down this year. Denver's defense is still horribile and San Diego is a lot worse on defense than expected. Even Pittsburgh looks really vulnerable with their offensive line issues. Nobody is running off with anything. Do I think they will be a playoff team? Of course, not. They are playing horribly, but there is still some room for optimism. I think a real running game is looking likely with Slaton and the offensive line getting more comfortable in the system. This will help everything else and if Schaub continues to stink it up then at least we have a capable QB in the wings. I don't think Kubiak will be shy about yanking Schaub if he continues to play like Babe Laufenberg. They have a bunch of home games coming up which should also help. Plenty of teams have stunk it up after two games and still managed to turn it around. No use getting out the brown paper bags just yet.
So wait. We should trade a "not a quality NFL QB" for the exact same thing? we all know VY in NFL = garbage. Schaub has looked awful so far this season. Like a deer in headlights.
Amen, brother. I've been saying it ever since before the dumb trade that lost us the 1st round pick. SAGE!
I spent maybe a total of 2 minutes in this game thread, less time than its taking me to write this post. And from that little time I noticed what looked to be trolling from your posts. Not that it matters much to me cuz 5 years from now no one will "change" their posting behavior, it'll be exactly the same. More how its amazing sometimes how part of the troll package is to have absolutely no conscious of it or have deep deniability of it. But perhaps its just coincidence. I/we will go ahead and just take in your "facts" from your analysis that you're trying to shed on everyone so people can see the light. Becausely I'm sure your goal here is to make everyone more knowledgable about the game of football, no other motives tied in or anything.
point taken...seriously...like you said guess my posting habits wont change but ill try and reflect more on it before i post especially in texans threads
hey dave when no one likes you in chat AND in the forum, maybe the problem isnt with everyone else. btw....I still have a number 8 battle red jersey, anyone who can think of a creative way to sacrifice it to the football gods gets it....only catch is you must film it and present it to the board as proof the Carr curse is officially gone.
Imagine this. . . NO SCHAUB TRADE means we could have just started Sage and Draft Kolb from U or H and Let him get some Seasoning while Sage doing his thing Rocket River Hindsight . . .then again . . .i was against the Schaub trade from Day one
