did kubiak or anyone on texans speak to the press after the game? curious to hear kubiaks responses to some of his calls
Well, obviously. Hindsight is 20/20. Yet you can't claim to be right because of "evidence I had at the time."
I didn't realize I was claiming I was right. (Though it bears noting that this is two games, and Favre's had plenty of these games himself, including some 6 INT performances that would make Schaub's performance today look like Joe Montana or Steve Young. With that said, if I were in charge, I'd start Rosenfels next week.)
Fair enough, though I disagree the evidence supported Schaub even back then. I would also start Rosenfels. Schaub may understand the game. But he is just so freaking immobile and his arm to me looks far below average. Favre looks younger and more energetic out there.
Yeah, it's the arm that to me is the biggest issue. It's clear that for whatever reason, he's not all there mentally right now and his timing is terrible. Maybe he's afraid of the hits, or maybe it's an early season, lack of repetition thing -- who knows. But he's not in sync. He's releasing the ball too early at times, he's holding on too late at others, and his accuracy has been really suspect. If he had a gun for an arm, he could overcome some of those issues -- but with average at best arm strength, it's imperative he be on top of the mental side. He's not, and he doesn't have the arm to make plays in spite of it. If it were just today, I'd give him a pass, but he looked every bit as lost in Pittsburgh -- until it was 35-3 and the Steelers stopped playing, of course. It's time to give him some time off to figure things out, and at the same time see how Rosenfels fares with the same OL and same receivers. Nothing to lose.
By the way, all the talk about Schaub, Kubiak and the offense masks problems on defense that are just as big. Remember that Steelers team that scored 38 on us, and could've put up 60 if they kept playing? We chalked it up in the moment to them being one of the best teams in the league. Since then, they've scored 10 points in Cleveland, 6 points in Philadelphia, and have an offensive line that looks like swiss cheese. Roethlisberger was sacked eight times today. The Titans -- the most conservative, vanilla offense in football -- scored 21 on us in the first half, and likely would've put up more had they not gone into a shell to try and run clock in the second half. This team is just all-around bad. It's incredible. Whenever it seems like the Texans make progress (2004, 2007) and have things going in the right direction, they immediately fall off the cliff it seems.
Nope. This is. You are literally the definition of a troll. You might as well be a Jazz fan on this forum.
No worries, Texans just played 2 Super Bowl-caliber teams. We'll know who the Texans really are after playing a lousy team.
On the positive side, as bad as Schaub played and the Texans' play-calling was, not to mention the absolutely terrible call by the official to give the Titans 40 yards they should not have had, we were a few yards away from an onside kick attempt to tie the game. And had we not made the horrible decision to go for it on 4th and 4 from the 15, we very realistically could've only been down 6 in the 4th. I'm not as discouraged as I was three and a half hours ago. What sucks is that you know Indy's going to be pissed going into next week's game starting 1-2. Of course, they haven't looked nearly as good this year, so who knows...it could be winnable. The emergence of Slaton was nice too.
Next time before you make another statement like that, I recommend that you go find a copy of the old NFL Football Follies and watch the segment on the Houston Oilers when Bill Peterson was the head coach. Nothing, I repeat N O T H I N G can top the inept play calling you will see on that video.
Yeah, maybe next Sunday he can have a seat up in the press box next to Vince Young.. I'll bet that between the two of them, they should be able to figure this NFL QB thing out.
