Some of it might have to do with Slaton. He's good at the one cut scheme but may not be all that great at bulling his way through the line as a power back. He did get some tough yards today but he also got stood up at the line a few times when he tried to power it up the middle (though the line is partly to blame).
Slaton had some sweet moves on the field. Made some guys miss...but he was the only positive in this game.
At What point in this season does Sage get a shot? Are we willing to go 6-10 and never let Sage get a start Rocket River
I'm starting to lose my patience with Kubiak and I am on my way to thinking he is the wrong coach for this team. I know we are not the most talented team but we don't need his mistakes to compound the problem even further. We've gone from one extreme of playing it too safe on fourth downs with Dom Capers to the other extreme of recklessness. Normally it speaks well for a coach to trust his team to go for it on 4th downs. However, what I see is Kubiak not trusting his offensive players ability to get back into red zone territory. Right now I just want to see improvements as each game goes from the players to the coaches on the sidelines. I don't want to see the same mistakes over and over again.
I saw it as lack of confidence in the defense. At least for that first failed 4th down conversion in the 3rd quarter. I think Kubes was thinking about how our D couldn't stop the Titans in the first half and how we couldn't afford to trade FG's for TD's.
You can look bad while winning and can look good while losing. It doesn't matter in the standings but it does let you guage your teams progress. We looked bad losing. Yes, Pitt and Tenn are better and all things being equal, we should have lost those games anyway. That probably holds true for the next 2 games as well. We all knew the start of this season was going to be rough. But while some of us expected us to lose most, if not all, those games, we didn't really think we were going to play as poorly as we have to this point. I'm not one to overreact, but I think that if we keep playing like this for the rest of the season, we're looking at 4-5 wins.
Rocketman95 Just because your Texans got outplayed again makes your post above look completely pathetic. Big man that you are by calling Mr. Dave a troll and telling him to "STFU". Come to expect such posts from yourself. Keep up the classy posts...
I appreciate you pointing out the personal attacks, I've tried to be civil in my posts but it doesnt help. I dont understand how I am the troll since I started the thread anyways...i dont mind the personal attacks, i get a good laugh out of them. I came in here to talk about the game and its considered whining to complain about several penalties even the announcers pointed out as incorrect calls. To the posters that thought this game should've been won by the Texans, stop lying to yourself, this was classic jeff fisher football. Once the titans get their lead, the offense goes to run the clock out mode, they dont rely on their offense (with or without VY) to score to win. Their defense is the anchor and is the main reason they are 3-0 and why they were able to make playoffs last year. All that matters in the end is the Titans are 3-0. Flame away Texans fans.
No, Mr. Dave is a troll. Even when the Titans are not playing the Texans he enjoys going into threads and talking junk on a board where most people are fans of the Texans. That defines troll. People like him and Texasfight (Dragp) are University of Texas fans who get some sort of thrill by being jerks all of the time about the Texans. It must be some sort of Vince Young thing they can't get over. In any case, Rocketman95 is completely right about Mr. Dave.
It's not the losing so much that is important but rather the way they've played. Playing the Steelers and the Titans on the road to start the year is a tough assignment but they're basically getting b**** slapped around and that's the problem. The clock on Schaub has to be running now, if he sucks again next week he should be pulled. We've invested too much into this guy to have him play this poorly. The clock on our defensive coordinator has to be running now as well. The defense is pathetic when it comes to pressuring the quarterback. You rarely see an effective blitz. Only 2 sacks so far this season, both from Mario.
