I think Bush had the edge today....

    Bush - 14/51 yards 0 TDs, 8 Rec/112 yards 1 TD

    Mario - 4 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble

The edge - NO wins, Houston gets crushed.

And it had nothing to do with the other 50 players on the field for the Texans, did it?

Bush had a great day today, but to judge any individual player by the result of a team is just absolutely silly. By that logic, Matt Cassel is superior to Carson Palmer.

With that said, I'd like to take this space to give props to MadMax and everyone who was concerned after the Dallas game -- clearly, that was a good indicator. Weaver and Diles were abused today.

I'm not too concerned offensively. Brown had a rookie meltdown, but if that continues, he can be replaced. I think a lot of what happened offensively was a mental collapse after that awful officiating on the first drive that took away the first down. Schaub definitely forced some throws, including the picks, but I think those are generally a result of being down big and feeling like he had to make a play or the game was over.

Don't get me wrong, it was an abysmal performance offensively for sure. But I think it was connected to the inability of the defense, outside of Mario, to do anything. Get well soon Dunta. :(

Mario showed why we drafted him #1 today. He was quick.

As for the rest of the team, very lackluster performance. I haven't seen this team struggle this bad in a few years. :(

Wow. Still this lame crap? Mario was a beast today. Johnson and he were the only two who showed up to the game today.

Take a look at the teams before speaking. No running game , secondary play or passing attack is why we lost. I'm not a believer in Schaub. It's not just one game it's his entire body of work. He was overrated and we took the bait. having no ground game again was also nice to see

on the brightside the Texans are not last in the divison. Just one game, we will see what they are made of next week after getting beat down like the Iceman. I thought it was sad to see the game tempo set by a bad call upheld on the spot on the opening drive.

    My observations:

    1) Ultimately it didn't matter, but I was wondering why Kubes challenged the 4th down spot and not the 3rd down spot right before. That spot seemed just as questionable.

    2) I don't know if you can lose your job after only a half of play, but Schaub almost did.

    3) Its amazing what Mario was able to accomplish today considering he was doubled and tripled alot.

    4) In the 3rd quarter, why didn't they put more guys in the box and make Ben throw on a possibly suspect knee?

    5) Is our DL depth that bad that Anthony Weaver still has to start?

    6) Baltimore is now a must win, along with the Tennessee game. Can't go 1 and 4.

    7) Richard Smith is officially on the hot seat. Yeah, he has been dealt a bad hand talent wise on D, but we have looked way exposed on his watch.

To fans who can't get over stupid things.

As far as today's performance, it was downright awful. I know it's week 1 vs. a very good Steelers team but both sides of the ball were just terrible. Schaub's decision making is a HUGE question mark, the 2 INTs were just absolutely unexcusable and taking a big sack on 3rd down was just dumb.

The defense was equally as bad if not worse. Mario and DeMeco were the only brightspots but the rest of the D-Line got dominated and the secondary was non-existant.

I still just don't see Schaub being about 30 Million dollars and Two draft picks BETTER than Sage.

The Texans can use those picks
    and
that money could have been spent in other places.

why not? I did, sage has done nothing but positive things every time he steps on the field. i go back to the preseason of 06, then the infamous first game against tennessee in 06 when gary pulled carr and sage looked really good. its really not about schaub as much as it as about sage. they should have just rolled with him, picked up a good running back

Actually . . Schaub was very unproven. He had not started that many games
It was risky and filled with more HOPE than anything

I am a Sage guy - in that - I thought he has never gotten a REAL SHOT
at it here .. . . when Carr was here he was the Fair-Haired boy
the Golden boy that they put so much stock into . . . they were NOT going
to bench him for Journeyman Sage. . . no matter how better Sage was
because . .Carr was the FACE of the Team.

I think when they bring in Schaub it was the same thing
40 million plus 2 picks. . . .meant that he HAD to start

Sage doesn't come into this game because
if he had help them score those two touchdowns
Schaub would be getting SLAUGHTERED on the radio
    [not that he ain't now]

Our offensive line made me sick to my stomach. Will this ever get fixed?

Brutal today. Do push on the defensive line at all. The interior linemen get shoved around with ease. Running game is bad. Large part of it was that it was the Steelers, but boy, the 0-line got pushed around like children.

Schaub hasn't shown me anything to think he's going to be anything more than an average quarterback yet. That's an improvement over Carr, but not something to build your franchise around. Cracks me up that there was a thread in this forum asking if Schaub was better than Romo last year and lots of people said yes.
