Its funny how teams like the Saints go 4 and 5 wide against us but it seems like its primarily a 1 on 1 drill featuring Kareem vs whomever he covering

It is no shame to lose to the Saints in their building, and the team is still in first.

They have some stuff to work on, but they are going to be right there all year long.

Nobody is nitpicking our secondary if we could get ANY consistent pressure on Brees at all.

When we hit him, it clearly affected him. He doesn't usually throw 2 picks in any game. Smith decked him on that blindside sack and things were looking good.

Unfortunately, that was the closest we would get to Brees the rest of the game... and that was with 11 minutes left in the fourth quarter in a game you knew they were going to basically just pass exclusively.

Then again, that's what makes elite offenses elite... when they can do whatever they want, whenver they want, regardless of the situation. Also, being able to blitz and get to the QB whenever you want is the mark of an elite defense.

I don't think Wade has the system he wants fully in place yet... and if it is, then this defense still won't be good enough. If they get more pressure, Brees doesn't have all day to find anybody he wants.

Tough loss for Texans fans. I'm a Cowboys fan and am very familiar with what the defense brought in the 4th. Wade gets way too prevent oriented and is scared of getting scorched for the big play. In the end, it always brings the same result. Too much time for a good quarterback to pick you apart. This loss wasn't solely on the Defense, but they folded in the most important quarter.

Wade's system may not be completely in place with the short camps, but it is very similar to what you are going to see throughout. If Wade got creative with some blitzes in those situations it would really help out the secondary. Rushing your standard front is a dream come true for an elite offense in that situation.

Ironically, I feel that THAT is when a blitz-happy defense would be at its best.... playing with a lead against a team you know is going to pass.

The biggest weakness they had shown so far was the YPC they were giving up to running backs... but who cares when you have a two-score lead, let the other team run their hearts out and chew up clock.

I agree that was pretty sad. But why does that excuse Jackson for anything?

And I'm not totally down on the secondary - they're still worlds better than last season. The D-Line ran out of gas today....right when the Saints switched to a 5 wide, quick release offense. Give them credit, it tore us apart.

But it was on the offense just as much. Red Zone inefficiency in the first half followed by the terrible first two 4th Q possessions (3&out capped by a bad punt....then the Schaub INT giving them the ball at the 38). Massive momentum swing in a Dome that thrives and feeds of momentum.

well i was expecting a loss but i did not expect to be win teased so much. Schaub didn't play great, but good enough for a win

Didn't like some of the play calling by Kubes, especially early/mid 4th quarter.

Saints really started to blow up the running game late and completely stuffed it.

The defense couldnt get enough pressure on brees late and he picked them apart. It was painful to watch

The one criticism I had of Schaub was in the first half he had some happy feet in the red zone when there was no pressure....not sure what was going on there, but the team sure could have used a TD instead of FGs.

Either way, the team is fine, and still in first place...

I completely agree. Hopefully you will not have to grow disgusted of Wade's mug on the screen, when his defense constantly collapses when it matters, like I had to.

    It is a consolation that

    1) we lost a road game we were supposed to lose

    2) our division opponents keep getting worse - Kenny Britt likely out for the year while Chris Johnson continues to be in preseason form.

I'm not comparing the two but look at Nnamdi. He was awful at first. Give guys time to develop. As bad as Kareem was. He has shown improvement this year.

fine, bring him in every fourth series on dime packages. But he should not be out there guarding #1,#2 or #3 wide receivers. :p

yeah, he had a less than stellar 2nd half. so that's, what, a 13 to 1 ratio of clutch to fail now?

matt giveth and matt taketh away. if you want him to wipe your butt every time your defense gets its pants pulled down or your running game craps out, you're going to be disappointed once in a while.

hay now, Shwaulb was just doing whats best for the team....feel a hand brush him and lay down protecting the football.

Matt is not perfect but he's not a QB that will lead a team to a Superbowl. He'll get you to the Playoffs but he's just not the "special" type of QB that will step up and make the "big" play late.

Again... not enough evidence either way to make that claim.

I do know that teams that have offensive systems like the Texans.... dynamite running, pass blocking, and recieiving core... CAN make the Super Bowl. And Schaub does make this offense work.

But yes... he's not Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Brett Favre, or Peyton Manning... did anybody else think he was?

I'm sure him and the millions of dollars in the bank account could care less. It was soely his fault we lost.

You guys do realize that Brees is one of the best QBs in the league and a lot better than ours....so.......it was not a shocker to see him do that...
