I respect your opinion and certainly allowed to have one. Theres been plenty of tape that's been posted. One of those sacks that Stroud had was on him for not stepping up. The other two were from a blown pick up via the RB, and a hot that didn't turn around. Stroud read pressure really well this game. That reflected with him going 9/10 against it for over 100 yards. His INT, was a play very similar to the one Keon Coleman made for Josh Allen on Sunday night. Our WR didn't catch it. 3rd down to Dalton Schultz in Rams territory. It was a bad pass. Guess what, he got two hands on it. Catch the ball. Josh Allen had a similar pass over the middle and his player caught it to convert, and so did the Bears WR last night on an even worse one. Stroud has to be perfect on this team. His team rarely makes plays for him. Football is a team game. It's not as simple as "THE QB" despite what fans try to make it. His average 3rd down was 3rd and 11. The running game was horrid despite a few good Chubb runs. The penalties were constantly putting the team in negative position. This fan base is ready for the team to be elite, but its not ready. The GM refused to help the teams biggest weakness with proven players. It reared its head on day 1. People ask for Stroud to run more- He ran for 3 first downs. People ask for him to get better against pressure, he went 9/10 against it. Had his receiver who caught the pass not gotten it stripped mid air on what was an absolute dime to a 6'4 player who got ripped by a 5'9 DB. Stroud goes for 20/27 for 74% completion with a 7.8 YPA on TO free football. If Schultz catches it, its 21-27 for 78 and 8.2 YPA GREAT NUMBERS! Maybe just maybe, can Stroud's teammates pick him up when he isn't perfect. It rarely happens. We aren't being objective. Are we going to be pessimistic to be pessimistic? Lets be objective. Our QB played well. His team let him down.
Okay, so we'll make excuses for Hoyer 2.0.... everything has to be perfect or we can't expect anything from him. Meanwhile Stafford had just as much or more pressure and even less of a run game and got his team in the end zone twice. I personally think CJ Stroud is better than that, so i don't make those excuses for his poor performance.
Does Stafford not have the best offensive play caller in the league? Are we going to be objective. Nick Caley's first game as an OC vs SEAN MCVAY. What are we doing? Puca and Davante had the two highest first read % throws in the NFL on Sunday. Meaning they were schemed throws. You are just being a hater. He played well. But if you want to just go with your ego here. Go ahead.
Two things. Don't know if you paid attention for the majority of 3rd downs during the game, but that is Dare's down, to either block or get free out of the backfield. It will remain him until Woddy replaces him at some point during the season. 2nd item. That punch out by Landman was a thing of beauty and I suspect 99.9% of players in that situation would have fumbled as well. I believe Dare only had one fumble his entire career before that play. It's Tuesday and there are a lot of things to Parce out, and no one gets a pass, But it's one game on the road against a conference contender. The line will need time to get it together CJ will need some time to call the right formations. Those will happen, but I do not know if the timeline will keep this board from taking to the streets with torches and pitchforks. My biggest disappointment from the entire game was there were no adjustments made at halftime, much like last year.
This highlights the problem I have with the current regime, they haven't consistently drafted well enough. They have holes that very good teams tend to fill organically. It just feels like an organization that got and hit on some top end first rounders but hasn't done well enough later in the draft and lacks top end offensive coaching.
Nick has drafted CB/WR/S/QB/DE really well. He just isn't good at OL, RB, and TE. Not that the last two have even attempted to be done higher up in the draft.
I dont know about that, they hit on Nico in the 3rd rd, Lassiter and Bullock in the 2nd rd etc... What they decided to do this offseason as well as the 2024 offseason (In a very deep OL class) was invest in the defense instead of the offense. Even this yr knowing Mixon was hart they chose to trade down instead of drafting Henderson., or any number of RB's in the 2nd rd of a deep class. Also they could've drafted Conerly who's the starting RT for the Redskins. Ersery/Conerly could've been 10 yr bookends at the OT position.
Not going to overreact to game 1 because it's the Rams. Remember, they dominated the Vikings and then gave the Eagles a really tough fight (had a chance to win) on the road last year. The Rams gave the Eagles their toughest game by far in the Playoffs, and it was snowing which the Rams aren't even used to. The Rams are a quality team with elite QB, Coach, Receivers, and a defense that gets after it. That pick that CJ through required a big time effort by the Rams player. That fumble from Dare was just an amazing play by the defender. With a patchwork O-Line and a new OC, scoring 9 points isn't ideal but against the Rams it's expected. The Rams are favorites to win the NFC West after all. Fact is, the Texans proved that they can hang with the Rams on the road and didn't look outmatched really ever during the game. That bodes well if we can get the offense going.
You probably don't get Ersery if you take Conerly They just suck at evaluating RBs, TEs, and OL like people mentioned. Nick's drafted Anderson, Stingley, Bullock, Lassiter, Stroud, Pitre, Dell, Nico, and Harris since he's been here. That's a pretty good track record
