greggrosenthal Arian Foster became 3rd back in NFL history to top 500 rush yds, 100 receiving yds in first 4 games. Emmitt, Billy Sims the others
How did Kareem Jackson play today? I watched the game but I wanna know what some of the sharper football folks think. I remember one good open field tackle.
Damn. Awesome stats. Thanks for sharing! Foster is a STUD. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-...05/Foster-races-for-TD-on-first-touch-of-game
I felt like he did not play as many snaps, Brice McCain seemed to be in the game a lot, but maybe I am wrong Being matched up with Heyward-Bey was very beneficial to him today. The guy has no hands. He shouldda scored a TD on Jackson, but he dropped it.
I think he played the same number of snaps. Raiders receivers suck but I remember Jackson had some good plays. I am not really worried about him. Starting as a rookie at defensive back is tough. I like his demeanor and physical skills.
I was very disappointed throughout the game with Johnson/Tasker. About 5 or 6 times they made comments that made me think, 'Are they even watching the game?'. Of course the worst of all was the fact that it took them an entire quarter to realize that our starting RB who is leading the league in rushing hadn't even stepped onto the field yet. After our first TD, one of them made the comment that "all 3 backs" had a hand in that TD drive. What a joke.
His coverage skills are BAD to say the least. If Oakland did not have receivers with block hands, he would have looked even worse. I did not see him make any good plays. I am pretty worried about him going forward, he is the weakest link in the defense. Until he figures it out or is replaced, the Texans will have among the worst pass defenses in the league
Yeah, it was pretty ridiculous how long it took them to catch on to Foster's benching. And even when they started mentioning it, they still sort of questioned whether he had gotten some carries earlier that they missed somehow. And it really irritates me when they get the name wrong of a player that makes a tackle and don't correct themselves.
I'm not seeing any of this from Jackson. He has been making some good plays and is not too bad at coverage. He's getting better. And remember, he is a ROOKIE.
Explain better? He was probably the worst starting DB in the NFL for the first 3 weeks. This week he was matched up against the worst receiver in the NFL, so he did not look so bad. His coverage skills are still horrific right now. If he is not so bad in coverage, why are teams throwing all over him and the secondary?
I dunno . .the usual conservativeness allowing the raiders back in the game bad decision on the challenge benching arian foster . . . . . Rocket River
If anything, their "aggressiveness" by trying to pass the ball when it was 31-21 was what allowed the Raiders to get even closer, and in a position to eventually tie the game. Instead of using some clock, and running the ball against a team they'd run on all day, they go run, play-action (incomplete), and drop back (incomplete). 3 and out, and the defense was right back out there... after just giving up a lengthy drive. Texans were lucky that they were able to hold them to just a FG there b/c the defense was visibly winded.
Same reason they're throwing at Kyle Wilson, because they're rookies and the learning curve is steep for starting rookie corners. FWIW, the vast majority of Oakland's passing yards today went to Miller and McFadden. Their wide receivers only had 4 receptions despite being targeted 16 times. So our corners really didn't hurt us today. Zac Diles looked bad trying to cover Miller though. I do remember the play where there was a mix up between Gradkowski and his receiver when 'Kowski threw it to a vacant corner of the endzone. The receiver had run an out route and when they showed the replay, you could see Jackson was right on his hip. Good coverage that went unnoticed because the QB and WR weren't on the same page.
Is anyone worried about Arian Fosters attitude going forward? I was listening on 610 tonight, and their were concern on his attitude and his head getting to big because of his success? I personally don't and hope he wont be trouble but just curious to see what you guys think
Of course, on the next drive they did the exact opposite and still failed. Foster got stuffed at the line on first down and maybe picked up a yard. Then he picked up a tough 3 on 2nd down. On 3rd and 6, they ran the ball with Derrick Ward and had to punt. So on one possession, Kubes was too aggressive and on the next he was too conservative.
Running the ball on 3 and 6 with 3 and change to play was a bit conservative but the challenge was close enough to try and didn't hurt at all. Benching Foster was the correct thing to do, not sure why you find a fault in that?
