True - or maybe just play decoy. If he sits and Asomugha gets to shut down Walter, we're F'ed. Daniels is playing 70% if that and Schaub hasn't had a great start to the season. Oakland: #2 passing defense (yards) 3 games in. Oddly, they've allowed 6 passing TDs, as many as us (2nd most in league). Putting a lot of pressure on the run game with Duane Brown out. If they continue to run right like scared kids, we're in trouble. For all the hate Jackson is getting, we lost that Cowboys game because we only managed two FGs until garbage time late. You aren't beating anyone in this league like that, not even Baltimore or Green Bay could. Thankfully, Oakland isn't doing great against the run so far. We should be fine, but the offense can't afford to lay another egg.
Id just hate to see him out there as a decoy and get rolled up on by accident...or maybe get tangled up while blocking.....i just think that if they are going to be a factor down the stretch and hopefully make the playoffs (and win a playoff game) that they need him 100%
You've been wrong 2 out of 3 times this season concerning the Texans. Why don't you do us a favor and post when you think Houston is actually going to win.
AnnaMegan Texans safety Dominic Barber will start in place of Eugene Wilson on Sunday against the Raiders
Wilson pulled his hammy during the Cowboys game on one of Roy Williams touchdowns. I thought Troy Nolan might have passed Barber on the depth chart after his impressive preseason. Barber has had many chances to start and really hasn't done much. I remember the game versus the Titans last year when he left Chris Johnson uncovered and let him score on a 90 yard touchdown catch. He got benched for John Busing which tells you a lot.
No doubt in my mind Nolan earned some playing time in the pre-season. I wonder how badly he's done in practice, because I think he should be starting. He seemed to have a nose for the ball. I would like to see Nolan in to maybe cause a few turnovers. Anyways, this game to me, will tell us if the Texans really do have that swagger and belief that they're a playoff team that they spent all offseason talking about. If we come out and blow out the Raiders, then I believe them. If we come out, and lay another dud, and end up losing like chumps to the Raiders, I think they were just telling themselves and the media that. I'll be very disappointed. I still have playoff hopes for this team, but they could ruin them with a bad game on Sunday. All that said, I think the Raiders are a good team, and are pretty underrated. I think we should be safe, though, as they don't have a great quarterback. I bet we make Campbell/Gradkowski look pretty good, though. Plus, we need to win this game because I bet a buddy (Radiers fan) Chinese Buffet on the game. No spread, no nothing. Loser buys the winner a round of a Buffet.
I don't get all the Gus Johnson love. Coming from the world of MMA, he is the sports most hated commentator. He's a complete joke behind the mic for Strikeforce.
Nolan should have gotten the nod, but Kubiak's a big loyalty/seniority guy so no surprise Barber got the job. Normally I'd be very concerned, given that I'm about as happy to see Barber back in the lineup as I would be Ferguson, CC Brown, or Faggins...but given how ineffective Wilson's become, it's a push.
Barber is as bad as Wilson. Didn't the guy start last season for a while before getting benched??? Nolan should get the spot. Not to mention, Barber is a SS or is at least listed as one
I like him because he gets excited about EVERYTHING and it adds something to the usual boring commentating done by everyone else...go watch highlights of the Texans/Titans game @ Tennesee last year...He may suck in MMA, but he is great in football.
Yeah Barber started the season last year before being benched for John Busing. Then Busing got benched for Barber. The point is Barber has many chances to be a starter and has yet to take advantage of the opportunity. Both Nolan and Barber are more strong safeties. I liked how active Nolan was in the preseason and Kubiak said he had a great camp as well so I am a little suprised they went with Barber over Nolan.
Hold that tongue. Watch this and revel in the glory. We are not worthy of such greatness. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/MFzVZOIMswI?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/MFzVZOIMswI?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
You apparently have far more faith in Neil "Wide Left" Rackers than do I. Actually, that's what make this game interesting to me. The weaknesses of both teams sort of align with each other's strengths. As you pointed out: The Raiders can't pass while the Texans can't stop the pass. The Raiders can run but the Texans are 1st against the run. Both teams suck in the red zone. That's why I expect a close ugly game that will be ultimately decided by turnovers and mistakes. I would be really stunned if this were to become a shootout but that is not outside the realm of possibility at all.
