Texans 3 Raiders 2 Texans win on a sacrifice bunt in the bottom of the ninth. Seriously we beat the Raiders last year on the ground; Kubiak would not let Carr throw the ball in the second half. Without a running game this year, this game could go brutal. Would anybody be surprised if Kubiak spent the entire first half trying to establish the run?
I am going to be rooting my Texans on up until the 3rd turnover they give away at which point I will sit again in silence.
Schaub most likely out. I see a win here. The concussion he suffered against the San Diego Chargers was bothering him. It is the most serious injury Schaub has suffered this season. The team is listing Schaub as day-to-day; Sage Rosenfels is expected to start against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. Schaub's teammates are frustrated by what has happened the past two weeks to their quarterback. He was knocked out against the Tennessee Titans and San Diego Chargers by illegal hits. "Guys are coming after us. We need to come after them a little more," defensive end N.D. Kalu said. "It's almost like we're too nice out there. "I didn't see the hit, but if it was dirty, maybe we should have a dirty hit on their quarterback and all chip in to pay the fine. We just don't have that mentality, and maybe we should get it. It is old school. And that's how football should be played." In the Titans game, Albert Haynesworth caused injuries to Schaub's lower back and hip on an illegal helmet-to-helmet hit. In the Chargers game, cornerback Drayton Florence shoved his helmet into Schaub's jaw after Schaub threw his second interception of the game. The NFL will make a decision by Friday about whether to fine Florence. Haynesworth wasn't fined for his hit the previous week. "The one against Tennessee, I don't think (Haynesworth) was really going for that," right tackle Eric Winston said. "I think he was just going in the game and swallowed (Schaub). But that was a blatant cheap shot (in San Diego). There's no room for that." Schaub has left the past three games early with injuries. He suffered a thigh bruise against Jacksonville. He injured his ankle, along with his hip and lower back, against the Titans. Against San Diego, he suffered the concussion. No durability issues Coach Gary Kubiak said he has no concerns about Schaub's durability. "I think the one that he took yesterday, that's going to cause anybody a problem," Kubiak said. "And that's why the league put that rule in — after a turnover, the quarterback's basically off-limits unless he is somehow trying to make the tackle, so you can't just turn and go after him. So they're just trying to protect him, but that was a pretty severe shot. But I don't question his durability at all. I really don't." QB plenty tough Schaub's teammates agree. He has no past injury issues. Some would like to see how others would pick themselves up if they absorbed similar hits. "If you get a cheap shot and get a helmet under your chin and get a concussion, you have a concussion," Winston said. "There's no amount of weights you can lift to prevent that from happening. To say the guy is not a tough guy, or the guy is not durable because he got a cheap shot and got a concussion?" The Texans' pass protection has improved from a year ago, helping Schaub take fewer overall hits than some other quarterbacks. He is on pace to be sacked 24 times this season. "A lot of guys are upset," Winston said. "But what are you going to do? We could be 5-year-old kids and go hit them back. Or you can just get them back on the field, and that's what we're going to try to do. We're not going to quit."
Thanks, Castor. Anyone have an update on Green? It'll be interesting to see Green and Joe Echemandu run together.
THANK YOU, God of Football. Texans 35 Raiders 26 Sage Rosenfels, 3 TDs, 1 Rushing TD, 125 passer rating, 1 interception.
The season hinges on this game. We can crawl back to respectability with a win. Texans 17 Raiders 12 Gus Johnson and Steve Tasker will call the game for CBS.
Please God let Faggins sit on the bench this week! Without Faggins Texans 17 Raiders 10 With Faggins and his 2 td's given up Raiders 24 Texans 14
Echemandu was pretty effective with limited carries. Since nothing else has worked, I'd like to see him get more carries. Maybe he can do something towards establishing the run. Oakland gave up nearly 200 yards rushing to the Titans last week and gives up an average of 150 yards rushing per game. They're the only team in the NFL giving up more than 5 yards per carry. Of course, Miami is giving up 160 rushing ypg and we only got 74 against them.
naturally, Echemandu is banged up as well. He's apparently nursing a hamstring problem. Nothing serious, especially since he returned to the game after it happened.
Nah, last year was the "Toilet Bowl." Jerome Mathis 98 yd open 2nd half ensuing KO return, the D, Ron Dayne? "Mr 3 yards and a cloud of dust, this year, 2 yards & WTF." Passing from D.Carr net -5 yards and gave one TD by his sheer ineptitude. Ah hell, better win this week. Get SOME respect back. Texans 24, Faders 19. They're better than 3-5 but they better start showing it or uglyball returns to Houston for the rest of the season and the bags on Texan fans heads.
This week the Slingbox sucks. I'll need to get some rabbit ears and a TV to watch the AFC title game.
Texans should win this game Honestly Let's take a look at the Losses 3 are in the TOUGHEST DIVISION IN FOOTBALL A Division that only has 3 out of division losses [San Diego GOOD TEAM, Tampa bay Decent Team, and Atlanta uhm. .sh*t happens] Maybe they Texans are no as bad . . .as their division is good. There is no shame in 4 of their loses San Diego, Tennesee [5-2], Jacksonville [5-2] and Indy [7-0] Even with the injuries They should beat oakland Rocket River
I'm thinking about taping the Rocket game Saturday (since I can't watch it) and watching it Sunday between 3 and 6...
