This photo was taken of Smokey the Bear and friends after watching the game, seeing Jacques Reeves getting burned so much was too much for him to take. He was quoted as saying:
I think you are going overboard...For all of Dallas' Big-time "domination" in the first half, we came within 2 pts. of taking the game... Dallas is also considered by many to be the favorites or the best in the NFC... I look at it that considering the overall talent, considering all 4 quarters...We held our own till the end, and the scoreboard reflected that as well... Overall satisfied very much so...The Texans will look at the film and will probably put some heat on a few personnel of the defense, especially in the 1st half... Very impressed with the OL, impressed with the RB's BTW
I don't think I'm going overboard at all. Aside from Romo's overthrow of a wide open T.O. costing them 6 points....games where one team is able to move the ball as easily as the Cowboys were able to in the first half don't usually end up with scores like that. Hooray to the Texans for keeping it close. But if they make a habit of giving up 260 yards (or so) of offense per half, they'll get their ass handed to them. I'm concerned...but it's preseason...so my concern is mild. We'll see what happens when they step up the tempo...but...at some point we have to get a pass rush, because this secondary will absolutely be picked apart left and right if we don't. Like you, I was happy with the OL. As for all 4 quarters...i don't care how our 2nd and 3rd teamers match up with theirs. Many of those guys won't even be on the team much longer.
Shaub looks so ordinary to me, kind of like a career back up. The defense was disappointing, no pass rush at all. Not much to get really excited about. Then again, pre season, is mostly a joke, practice sessions for fans starved for football.
Oh hey, there's a football game on tonight! The NFL has got to shorten the preseason to 2 games and make the regular season 18 games.
