Thanks for being truthful, a lot of people would have said, I WANTED him last yr but the Texans went with Lovie......I knew D. Jones was good. But they had the pieces, just the right coach. Texans need pieces.
Daron Payne, the defensive tackle of the Washington Commanders intrigues me as an unrestricted free agent. He's a Pro Bowl level player with 55 quarterback hits and 26 sacks in his 5 years in the NFL. He had his best year yet in 2022 season with 11.5 sacks in 17 games. I'd love to add him to our defense this year.
I would take Sean Payton but not for 12 straight up... Im thinking anyone taken first 4 rounds should be a starter or compete for a starting job. So I would offer something like this: To Saints #12, 4th (2024), 5th, and 6th To Texans Payton, 3rd and 4th So we convert a premium pick into Payton and 2 should be starters. More concerned about bodies than top end talent. We can use a few cheap average starters.
Dude, you took the cash. Contenders can't afford to overpay their #2 that much. No one to blame but yourself. You play in a league with a salary cap.
Fans always want to punish the players or say they made a huge mistake, but players always get their way. He got the money and now he'll get to go somewhere that makes him happier. NFL players should always take the money from stupid teams and then work out the rest later. See Deshaun Watson as an example.
I agree with this, but also agree with mocking players who say things like "This isn't what I signed up for" or some BS.
Being that Sean Payton is on his show 2-3x a week, is a colleague, consider themselves friends . . . yes.
Daniel Jones isn’t that good. Don’t get me wrong, he can run though, and he has some great offensive coaches. I expect the Eagles to exploit the Daniel Jones and the Giants weak WR core and run up the score on them this weekend.
I agree, but I think there is at least a 90% chance that Cowherd took something that Payton said and running with it to put his own spin on it. For instance, I can see them being candid about the dysfunction with Easterby and the last few years. Payton starts talking about it with Cowherd, “wow can’t believe how that went down, the dysfunction was crazy” etc etc, and Cowherd turns that into “LOOK AT HOW TRASH THE TEXANS ARE!!!! AWFUL ORGANIZATION TERRIBLE JOB TERRIBLE OWNERSHIP!!”
That’s not what Cowherd is saying at all though. Even if Payton was being reasonably PC about the interviews saying the zoom with the Texans didn’t go well or talking with Cal was way different from Rob Walton/Dave Tepper, don’t think it is that big of a spin to say someone can spot dysfunction over a Zoom call or that there is a large disparity in ownership. And yes I’m acknowledging that Cowherd is typically a clown show. But he undoubtedly has a good relationship with Payton where I don’t think he’d take too many liberties on what he was told.
Agreed. The whole "wait until next year for a QB" strategy has worked extremely well for the Texans throughout it's 20 year history.
