Overpay? He turned down $12M/year to stay in Dallas. Fair value and maybe even a bargain! Will be a huge asset to a rookie QB.
I'm not as big a fan of Tippman as I am of Schmitz/Wypler. Tippman struggles with balance in the run game and because he's so tall guys sometimes get under his pads, so he doesn't get much push in the run game. He's very athletic though when he can stay in balance.
Now that Schultz is the new TE, I dont think the TE position will come into play until the 3rd/4th rd.
This draft is STACKED at TE. His market was dry. Like I said, I would want to see the parameters since it is UP to $9M. I think OJ Howard or Foster Moreau could be (or been) had for cheaper and would fit the offense better.
I HATE the Cooks trade! Got horrid value, still had to pay a good portion of his salary and made the cowgirls better ta' boot! Grrr!!! Caserio has a history of either getting average/fair value - losing massively on his trades. Remember the Nico Collins trade. I think it was PFF that said it was the 3rd most aggregious overpay of the last 10 years draft value chart wise! And for a receiver that doesn't get much separation at all! Also you can't judge a draft record in a vacuum. It's not what you get, it's what you get relative to what was there! Stingley over Sauce may turn out to be a HUGE whiff. I know time will tell. Same with Green. He over-drafted him with what looks to be better prospects on the board (Tyler Smith, Zion Williamson). (I know it's early) Even when we drafted Metchie it looked like an overdraft (and after a trade up!). I REALLY, REALLY wanted George Pickens there and he may end up being a star. Still rooting for Metch' though! And now the Cooks trade! I also hate it because we don't have a decent #1 we now. Maybe not even a decent #2 either! If that's all he could get I would have told Cooks to suck it up and kept him! At least till the trade deadline. He couldn't do any worse than he did! (Well with Nick I better not say that) Now we HAVE to get some quality receiving talent for Bryce to throw to! Trade down for Jaylin Hyatt in the 1st? Dalton Kincaid in the 2nd? Sam LaPorta, Jonathan Mingo, Tank Dell or Tyler Scott in the 3rd? I'm down with any of those! But I HATE drafting from a position of need! And that's where we're at now! I just don't have much faith in Nick's eye for talent OR his ability to acquire it! (especially for good/decent value) And if a GM's no good at that then what's the sense of having him making decisions for you!
I think the goal at 12 now is to move back for more mid round picks.... Would like to move to 18-20 range and pick up a 2 in process while swapping a 4 for 3... Has to have the right player fall... Then pick top edge and go shopping in 2nd/3rd: Achane Wypler Musgrave M Wilson
Not really. We have LT, backup QB and probably RT in pretty good shape just to name a few. Not to mention some of our FA signings and how they affect our draft strategy. Not as bare as you make it out to be.
I like the flexibility these latest deals afford us in both years in the deal but ability to be more BPA in nature. Singletary is the odd one to me because I think it means no Bijan, but maybe not since it’s a 1 year deal. Schultz’s 1 year deal doesn’t mean we don’t still target a TE like Mayer or other if they are BPA, especially since TEs usually take multiple years.
I'm expecting A+ coaching to at least mitigate that. But that's why he's the alternate to Wypler. I like his ceiling more than I dislike his floor..
You are exactly correct! I've been saying that Nick has not been impressive to say the least. He has not been getting good value.
