The only caveat from letting honey badger go is we still have one of the most promising young safeties in the league. Obviously there’s a hole next to him now.

Can't even be mad at Tyrann for taking the money AND he gets to pay for a better coach, a better front office, a better team, and a more passionate fanbase. This is like jumping from Yahoo to work for Google.

The truth about where they will be looking to add is at Tre Boston and further down that list. They are priced out of the top safeties with 64 million left to spend.

Neither Gaine nor butt chin are equal to half of what hoodie is. Its fine to follow the way but must understand they have their own limits.

That being said 14mil is a lot and I dont think it was worth it. Well, to a certain extent but I blame Snyder for this ****.

Edit: Nevermind. I read bellichek when I shouldve read Parcells.

Not sure safety was really such a huge need with Reid and Hal coming back full strength. Throw in potentially re-signing Kareem it just isn't a need position (if they sign Kareem). Corner, yes! Some O-line help, yes. Another RB, yes. Most of free agency will be about quality depth with maybe two to three impact players. The draft is where they'll look to take a larger step forward and keep flexibility into the future, so they can pay Deshaun soon.

We could tell that this was going to be their mentality from the jump. I expected this.

At the same time this is still a deep safety FA class. If we sign Amos for around 13-14 mil that offsets honey badger leaving. If we leave this FA without signing a safety that’s when I’ll be very concerned

Guys, I just heard a rumor locally around Buffalo.

Kevin Johnson broke his wrist signing his contact and will miss the season.

Why will they agree to sign Amos for 13 mil when they could have given that to Matthieu?

Kind of torn as to how to feel early on. Historically, it’s played out that being the champions of free agency doesn’t typically equal on field success. Recent history says otherwise (see L.A. Rams). People like to point at the Patriots’ reluctance to pay for free agents being smart given they’re sustained success, but they also have possibly the best QB and best coach in the history of the game in their corner so you might want to hit pause before assuming their free agency model is the one to follow. The Texans should be trying to keep up with the Andrew Luck Colts in their own division while recognizing that they have the kind of tools in place that makes them a few right moves away from being a contender. They also need to realize that this franchise is not the Cowboys, Broncos, Steelers, Pats, etc and like it or not, you will likely need to pay more than these teams would to attract a difference maker. You are playing with top 5 cap space and difference makers are sitting there for the taking. Settling for resigning aging vets like Joseph and middle of the road’s like Kareem feels like the wrong strategy here. Go get a Le’Veon Bell or an Earl Thomas and throw your name in the ring as a potential force to be reckoned with. Take that next step out of anonymity as a franchise. A few years ago BoB told the team at the beginning of Hard Knocks that no one talks about you out there or cares that you exist and he hit the nail on the head. The Texans franchise has spent its entire existence irrelevant. Here’s an opportunity to change the narrative.
