    WTF do you think coaching staffs are? A Democracy? If ANYONE will challenge O'Brien on things, it would be Marrone...who is a long time friend. Someone who knows O'Brien and has a trust factor.

    I don’t think he deserved that much but I can see why we paid it. Can’t afford to lose him. Even if he only has 7.5 sacks on the season

    I like that they did the contract in season. Honey badger made that passive aggressive comment in March criticizing the F.O. can't believe merciless is in his 8th season already.

    Remember when you all thought Mercilus was going to get 15 sacks because Clowney was gone? Yeah, he might end up with half of that. Good dude though. Good to have on the team.

    You heard Cal McNair with the “Flat” structure. Texans have a specialist that handles contracts. I’m sure O’Brien says “Let’s re-sign Mercilus”. The person who handles contracts and their Cap specialist negotiates the details.

    I’m sure O’Brien involved...but doesn’t handle every detail.
