A good free agent guide from SI https://www.si.com/nfl/2025-nfl-free-agency-projecting-contracts-top-50-playershttps://www.si.com/nfl/2025-nfl-free-agency-projecting-contracts-top-50-players just add an extra 3-5 mil for the price of doing business in 2025.
The cut saves $2,117,176 but leaves $12,482,000 in dead cap. A post-June 1st designation would save $9,441,176, with $5,158,000 in dead money. The key difference is that a June 1st cut frees up more cap space, but the team can’t use that money until after June 1st, which is why I assume most of Shaq’s cap savings are earmarked for rookie contracts. As for Stingley, I’m not sure about his contract details, but I’d expect the team to exercise his fifth-year option before negotiating an extension.
D@mn you're fast (TWSS)... I was just going to post this... lol Can you imagine a pass rush rotation with Area 51, Landry, & Hunter??? C'mon BDN
Aziz is a LB. He's talking about an Edge rotation, whether labeled as CB or DE. Aziz is a fifth rusher on occasion. The third member of an Edge rotation keeps them fresh without letting up on the pressure the opposing OL is feeling.
Its a lot of bad teams with a ton of cash that will offer him way more than Texans can. Hope you’re right though. He’s one of the few bright spots on the Oilers.
The salary cap relief is a bonus on the Shaq Mason cut. I got so tired of that dude getting beat last season. He seemed to age REALLY quickly considering he wasn't near so bad the season prior.
Oh, for sure. I like both guys, and if they could financially pull off keeping both while still addressing the interior o-line and other holes, that's ideal. I just know Autry is one of the candidates to be cut based on his age (35), injury history and salary. And if they're looking to save money while adding talent, that's a 1 for 1 scenario at DT I could get behind.
Gotcha. Thanks for the clarity. I wasn't sure on the timing of Stingley's contract, but I know I read somewhere over the last week that he was someone they could be looking to extend sooner rather than later. Regardless, getting rid of Mason here feels like a no-brainer, whether it saved them a ton of money for free agents or not. The fact that it saves them so much money they can put to use on rookies and other contracts is just icing on the cake.
How much cap space do the Texans have at the moment with all the restructuring? Hope we can a starter at C, G and some of the defensive reserve/special team guru’s back..Barnett, Fatukasi/Edwards, Murray, Hewitt, Phillips, etc
$5,281,259. They could still restructure Tunsil, Howard, Hunter and Schultz and open up another $38,851,250 in cap space
Good to cut Mason now need more restructures and then sign a G and DT. Then go WR, G, DT first three rounds.
