I would seriously offer a 3rd rounder this year for him. That would be a sick offensive line. Could you imagine a 4-3 scheme with him and Peria Jerry (If we could pick him up in the first round) in the middle and our two young ends? Then, with Okoye, we;d really have some tackle depth... Edited due to dumb typo...
I would love to get Shaun Rogers, and here is my DREAM Draft Day Scenario that happens to involve us getting him. TRADE: Houston Gets: Shaun Rogers Cleveland Gets: 3rd and OUR Fourth round pick. Note: Rogers is disgruntled and wants out, hurting Cleveland's trade value so this deal seems reasonable. -Rogers is a still a young, Pro-Bowl DT that's a monster inside. His presence will help everyone on the D-line especially Amobi who needs to have a breakout season. 1st Round: TRADE: Houston Gets: Detroit's 20th overall and also its 3rd Round Pick Detroit Gets: Houston's 15th overall (trade is pretty close in terms of the Draft Value Chart) Houston drafts Clay Mathews (OLB) USC Note: Again this is a DREAM scenario but i can see this happening in two ways. One Detroit rolls the dice with the first overall pick and takes one of the tackles hoping to grab their QB of the future by moving up. Sanchez or Freeman can both be there at 15. Second way, Detroit falls in love with Stafford, takes him number 1, then looks to draft one of the four premier tackles by moving up again. At 15 I can definately see Oher or even Andre Smith still being there. 2nd Round: Houston drafts William Moore (S) Missouri Note: Safety seems to be the best value pick in the second round since there is a solid handful of them that are teetering between that end of the 1st round to early second round range. Moore was once looked at as a top ten talent, but injuries and his final season at missouri where he played at a much heavier weight due to team needs has made his stock drop substantially. I say we roll the dice here and go for him, if not I also like Patrick Chung out of Oregon. 3rd Round: Houston drafts Lawrence Sidbury (DE) Richmond Note: Thanks to the Detroit trade we get back into the third round at a much higher position. Sidbury is a small school guy who has great measurables and an impressive combine. Often compared to as a "poor-man's" Michael Johnson. Take that as you will be this is another guy that has alot of upside to be real good in the pass rushing department. I like the Antonio Smith signing but from what I've read he's not a SERIOUS pass rushing threat. This pick allows from a situational pass rusher. Boom...3 potential starters and more depth on defense. These four players alone immediately upgrades our defense and our ability to get to the quarterback. Again this is a dream scenario and who knows if Rogers will be traded out of Cleveland or Detroit takes that deal but I think a draft day playing out like this would be amazing. Regardless of the matter, our draft needs to be defense orientated to take us to the next level.
texans get shaun cody http://www.freep.com/article/200903...ORTS01/Lions+DT+Shaun+Cody+signs+with+Houston
haha...not the Shaun i was hoping for but good depth signing. A former second round pick means there was some recognizable talent there when he came out, hopefully he can somewhat improve his game while he's here
The NFL released the final draft order after awarding 32 compensatory draft choices today. Here are the Texans draft order selections: Round One 15th pick, 15th overall Round Two 14th pick, 46th overall Round Three 13th pick, 77th overall Round Four 12th pick, 112th overall 22nd pick, 122nd overall (from Minny) Round Five 16th pick, 152nd overall Round Six 15th pick, 188th overall Round Seven 14th pick, 223rd overall
I've actually thought about this trade scenario (Detroit's 20th and third for Houston's 15) also, but I would take Shonn Green, RB Iowa, with the 3rd rounder from Detroit. I think he'll still be there in the early 3rd, which would complete the Shaun trifecta for the offseason
That just means that we have the 46th overall pick which is the 14th pick in the second round. Houston only has 1 second round pick this year. We do have 2 4th round picks (one from Minny).
Cato June coming in today for a visit. He'd be a very nice pickup at OLB bringing veteran experience to a somewhat young defense. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/6350781.html
Ryans, Robinson not reporting for offseason conditioning http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/mcclain/6352786.html I don't think this is a huge deal, but obviously it can't have anything but a negative impact on the team. If they skip mini-camp, and heaven-forbid any of training camp, I think that is a much larger issue. With DeMeco especially I don't see why he'd consider that...they have had very little negotiations with him already and there is still plenty of time. Dunta, on the other hand, has already gone through extensive negotiations and didn't get what he wanted, so I could see him threatening to miss training camp. Ultimately, I think both will know that they need to be there as leaders of the defense once training camp rolls around.
one day you will admit you were wrong about the former. as far as the latter, i'm going to guess some sort of head trauma. see ya tonight. go texans.
Dunta Robinson had a great offer on the table that would have made him one of the highest paid CBs in the league. Even after coming back during half a season and clearly not 100% healthy. A guaranteed contract was on the table and he and his agent turned it down. So rather than renegotiate, Rick Smith and co. decided to franchise him and be done with situation until after the draft or after the next season. I could understand Dunta being mad if the Texans franchised him right off the bat, but to be angry cause he felt like he was betrayed, he turned an offer (a good one at that) and the Texans took the best course of action by franchising and assuring that he stayed with the team. Dunta is going to get paid just short of $10 million for one season. IMO he needs to focus on getting healthy and use this situation as motivation to be one of the best corners in the league. As for Demeco, he's already under a contract that he originally signed. There are reports that an extension offer was made and was turned down. The first offer usually gets rejected in negotiations, but the Texans weren't in the mood to renegotiate and decided to put any future offers on hold. Demeco is currently under a contract that he signed and insists on crying publicly about not being paid what he is worth. I think most of us are not paid what we are worth, but we don't tell our employers that we are getting paid enough, so I'm not coming in for "voluntary" training. As leaders on the defense I expected more out of these guys and am very surprised at the lack of professionalism that these players have shown. Ultimately they are getting paid millions of dollars to play a game, and if they are smart with investing their money they will never have to work a day in their lives after they retire. I'm sure just about anyone would trade places with them in a second. I'm pretty sure that the situation will get worked out and both players will probably get the money they want and continue to be members of the team.
Did I miss something? When did Demeco cry publicly about not getting paid what he thinks he is worth?
