I know, I know. It is definitely the elephant in the room. I absolutely HATE that I think like this, but I feel like it’s just a matter of time… Comes with the territory of being a Houston sports fan, I guess.
I'm really, REALLY trying to not get my hopes up on Glover Quinn...but it seems like every single thing I hear about him is glowing praise. It's training camp (not even preseason games yet) but with so little else to focus on, football-wise, these days, I can't help but feel my anticipation of his performance ratcheting up little by little every day.
ChronicleTexans John McClain reports the Texans will look at RBs Andre Hall and Brad Lester. Looks like Chris Brown's days are numbered!
Um, how? He's pretty much solidly the #2 guy unless his leg falls off. Did his leg fall off today?? Am I missing something?
I guess you didn't read this: http://blogs.chron.com/nfl/2009/08/heres_why_i_think_dunta_will_r.html Running back Chris Brown continues to impress in practice. At 6-3, 234, he's got size and speed and experience in the Texans' running game. He breaks a lot of touchdown runs in practice. He's being physical, too. I know he was hurt every year in Tennessee and that he missed all of last season with the Texans, but Brown looks so good right now it's hard not to get fired up about him.
Berman just reported that Mike McKenzie will also tryout on Thursday. He is by far the best player of the three defensive backs if healthy.
WOW...no I didn't! I had not heard much about him on the talk shows and from what I remember this is the first time I read such a positive note about him in a LONG time. I stand corrected...I guess Hall and Lester are simply more bodies in camp!
The secondary depth is really starting to worry me. I like the fact the Texans are looking at some established vets to bring in, even though they MAY be past their prime, atleast they can provide some healthy bodies and some roster spot competition. On a side note: I said this last year and would like this again this year...Can the Texans PLEASE wear more ALL Battle Red Uniforms and the ALL White Uniforms (tops and pants included for both)
I thought people hated the battle red jerseys (I'm not one of them, we always play well in them for some reason) because they made the players look like ketchup bottles?
I'm a big fan of the all white. If I'm not mistaken they didn't wear them last year because they were supposed to in week one for "liberty white" before the game got moved. I think they should do all white or all blue for the main uniforms ... no more white on blue pants or vice-versa.
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/6563536.html Texans sign veterans CB O'Neal and RB Hall The Texans have signed two veterans in cornerback Deltha O’Neal and running back Andre Hall. To make room on the roster, defensive tackle Jake Visser was waived, and rookie running back Jeremiah Johnson has been placed on the injured reserve and will undergo shoulder surgery. The Texans tried out three veteran cornerbacks on Thursday – O’Neal, Mike Mackenzie and Jason Webster. Besides Hall, they also tried out running back Brad Lester. The Texans were looking for a veteran cornerback after Jacques Reeves suffered a fractured fibula in practice this week. Reeves is out 6-8 weeks. Antwaun Molden, a second-year cornerback isn’t expected to come off PUP for two weeks.
They wore the all-white when they played Baltimore in November. Even though the game was moved from September to November it was still called Liberty White Day.
Sucks for Jeremiah Johnson it seemed alot of people where high on that kid but seeing the Texans put him on IR instead of letting him go tells me there high on him too.
Here is a confirmed list of Texans players on Twitter: Left tackle Duane Brown: 76ondalef Linebacker Zac Diles: zd54 Wide receiver Andre Johnson: Johnson80 Linebacker Cato June: CatoJune50 Running back Steve Slaton: ThaDoubleS Right tackle Eric Winston: ericwinston http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/6562284.html
I know! That's one reason why I love them. I'd still like them even if it didn't play so well in them.
I'd like to see us sign M. McKenzie. He's definitely past his prime, and injuries have de-railed him along the way, but he's a baller. Also, I read in the Houston Chronicle that Cush chopped off his hair, and is now rocking a mohawk.
Steve er...White? 224 pounds is what has been reported as his weight, granted he will bring that down to 215 by the end of camp. Add that to the report his speed is still top shelf and two words: good things! http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/08/03/no-slowing-down-heavier-slaton/
Saw this on a Denver Bronco board where they were talking (booing actually) about Orton and my thoughts drifted to Rex Grossman: 'Former Bears Quarterback' is code for 'He Sucks.' Pretty funny...
