Barwin signs 4-year deal Still no Cushing. Apparently he was told to leave the stadium on Wednesday because he had not signed his contract yet. None of the picks directly preceding him have signed either, so that is likely the holdup. I'm pretty sure this is the first time a Texans first-round pick has missed any of training camp.
I think a couple of draft picks have missed practice time (i.e. didn't sign before camp started) recently. Johnson and Brown come to mind. link
Ahh, I see. I guess none of them have missed significant time or more than a a day. I remember when Okoye signed hearing that he carried on the streak of first-rounders not missing any of camp.
ChronicleTexans Kubiak on Daniels being in camp: "This team knows they can count on him." ChronicleTexans Daniels: "This is the place I want to be for the rest of my career." He added, "I feel good about being here but I don't have all those positive thoughts
Yep, that's for sure true. Of course, it helps when they were drafting at the top of the draft (Carr, Johnson, Robinson, and later Williams) to where they could sign early. Carr and Williams were signed before OTAs. The problem with Cushing is that his agent is also the agent for picks 12-15: Moreno (unsigned), Orakpo (finally signed), Jenkins (unsigned), and Cushing (unsigned). Hopefully, now that Orakpo has signed the others will also come to terms.
Owen Daniels is really upset... JorgeVargas39 I guess I am allowed to Tweet now. Texans are not letting anyone tweet from the practice field. So now I will say Owen daniels showed up mad JorgeVargas39 He Wants a new contract and didn't get it. DeMeco Ryans also not hapy about contract. They did sign rookie Connor Barwin he was there. Training Camp drama for the first time since 94/95?
LOL. Twitter is going to bring a whole new avenue to sensationalism. Once sentence like this and everyone is going to start talking without even hearing what OD said.
Yeah, that doesn't make any sense. I think this is the first time this twitter has heard about the fact that OD and DeMeco don't have contracts. The rest of us have known it all summer... And the Barwin signing was announced about 8 hours ago. 610 was talking about it at 6am this morning. So Barwin signed a contract and OD and DeMeco haven't. Gee...thanks for that breaking news...

Great news now lets get Duanta in camp and make Demeco/Daniels happy.... ChronicleTexans John McClain reports the Texans have agreed to contract terms with first-round draft pick Brian Cushing. More details to come.
Cushing deal is done! http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/6557049.html ------------------- Texans sign first-round pick Cushing By JOHN McCLAIN Copyright 2009 Houston Chronicle Aug. 1, 2009, 7:30AM Outside linebacker Brian Cushing, the Texans' first-round draft choice, has agreed to a contract. Cushing, the 15th pick in the first round, is in Los Angeles and hoping to join the Texans at training camp today. Cushing, 6-3, 262, was inserted as a starter on the strong side the first time he stepped on the field at the organized team activities. Cushing is the last of the team's eight draft choices to sign. He missed only one day of training camp.
great pics. i saw jacoby with the ball in his hands, maybe this will be the year he holds on to it and EXPLODES for big yards in the receiving game.
I just hope this is the year he contributes on punt returns. No more fumbles, no more negative yardage plays. Just catch what comes his way, get what he can, and break a couple big gainers in the process. If he's active in the receiving game, that means less of David Anderson. Although DA is not the homerun threat that Jacoby is, I still love that he runs his routes with precision, catches the balls that come his way, and is a reliable fourth option or fifth option (behind AJ, KW, OD, and maybe SS). So unless JJ can magically become a great slot WR, I'm more than willing to go with DA or Andre Davis as the third WR on this team. Big plays are great, but we need guys that can keep the clock and chains moving (i.e. no drops)!
