Seems he has a good sense of running back history, as the quote has been attributed to Darrell Royal advising Earl Campbell. Earl Campbell was my favorite running back of all time. Here are two great Campbell quotes: [Interviewer] What makes you run?" I asked. "I want to be a pro football player. I want to be successful in what I try to do. It is part of me, just like the clothes I wear. The way I look at it, it's a gift that God gave me and this is what I am meant to do. I want to make it so I can help take care of my family. I want to buy my momma a house so she won't have to look at the stars at night through the holes in the roof. And after I have done that, maybe I can be of help to some who are less fortunate than I." [Interviewer] And then, at just 20 years of age, he continued talking. "I try each night to read the Bible, and I say my prayers. People wonder how I get out there and run like I do. On game days, especially on game days, I sit on the bench, I put on that suit, and I say a prayer. I remember a sign in my high school dressing room that said, "A quitter never wins, and a winner never quits." I think about that all the time. There are times when I feel like I want to quit, but whenever I do, I just say a little prayer and suddenly my day is brighter. "If it weren't for the dark days, we wouldn't know what it is to walk in the light."
this doesn't need a thread but I thought it was interesting. I read that Jabar Gaffney is likely to be a starting WR for the Broncos opposite Eddie Royal
So I'll be coming back to Houston for Thanksgiving and I am wanting to check out my first Texans Home Game (seen them on the road a few times). Looking to get tix to the Titans monday night game. When do individual tickets go on sale and is there any chance they'd have any left? After that what do you guys recommend as the next best option ... Stub Hub? Or do the Texans offer season ticket holders a different resale site that might be better?
well, he almost never touched me inappropriately. he did give a nice foot massage. his nails usually matched his outfit.
he did. it's hard for me to enumerate all the brick jobs, though. As bad as Carr sucked, it was so frustrating when Carr would finally a) remain upright and b) deliver a competent throw to his receiver only to watch the guy brick a perfectly catchable pass -- and I'm not talking underthrown or overthrown here, I'm talking right in the chest and right in the breadbasket -- BOUNCE! and Gaffney's hands would go in the air beside his head and Carr's shoulders would slump and he's lean his head back like a three-year-old about to start bawling. An image I saw just a few too many times; I don't miss either of those two.
when you read your description and can picture it happening and you see Gaffney's face through his facemask in your head.. that's a bad thing.
I don't remember the hands thing being as big an issue with Jabbar as it was with Corey Bradford, and actually Andre had some bad drops his rookie season as well. Gaffney I just remember rarely getting a chance to catch the ball, it seems. Perhaps I've blocked all that stuff out.
My god, look at these names we are discussing. Jabar Gaffney, Corey Bradford...I remember having LENGTHY discussions on this board with some CFL fan who swore that Derick Armstrong would be a star someday. It is so freaking nice to have real wide receivers now.
Nice update on Okam on Texans.com. He's lost 30 lbs this summer and is looking to lose another 5. Has been working at NT and 3-Technique. Says Barwin is ridiculously fast and has been all over the field, also said Cushing is a beast. If Okam can come and play up to his ability, our front 7 could be very dangerous... RDE: Mario (6'7" 291) - Connor Barwin NT: Okam (6'5" 342) - Travis Johnson DT: Amobi (6'2" 302) LDE: Smith (6'4" 285) SLB: Cushing (6'3" 262) MLB: DeMeco (6'1" 250) WLB: Adibi (6'2" 243) http://www.houstontexans.com/tv/index.asp?mm_file_id=3246&play_clip=y
One month until preseason begins. My anticipation level is getting higher and higher as we get closer to the start of the season. I'm really hoping this will be a special year for the Texans.
I remember Armstrong. He had the best hands of those terrible teams. No speed, but at least he could catch
You, sir, are wildly incorrect. Rhino17 has it right. They both had terrible hands. Armstrong could catch it but could never get open.
