ric -- i did not say i KNOW that players want him gone. I'm saying it wouldn't surprise me. That I believe more than a few probably do. Again, you wish to change the degree of the argument so you can argue with a position I'm not taking. Your comment that we're all "irresponsible" truly makes me want to vomit. More pretentious crap. I realize how important your comments are for the world, so have patience with the rest of us.
ok, msn, if it's not an "argument or contention of fact," what is it....? was it posted with the idea it should never be refuted? did you feel it was above reproach? i don't understand. in fact, you know what? save it - i don't honestly care what you think it is. it was posted in a public forum. it was used to support a definitive position. it was wrong. and i refuted it. well, at least we're keeping it classy. i find it interesting that you've tried to repeatedly label ME as taking this too seriously and yet, i'm the one who can kiss YOUR self-righteous ass. yes, msn, i made an assumption based on a multitude of posts by all three of you in which you've all routinely demanded a higher standard from posters, rarely accepting baseless claims as means to further a discussion.
i know, max. and all i've asked - well, actually, i haven't asked a thing, because i know the answer, but - is that you provide even an ounce of a foundation for your opinion. please. one quote. the team and david carr have been in existence for five years: find someone - ANYONE - to even remotely support your line of thinking. if you can't, then how is it any different from someone labeling jeff bagwell a choker? or roger clemens a steroid user? or drayton mcclane a racist and not having a foundation to stand on? aren't these the kind of contentions you routinely object to and isn't an absence of supporting evidence often a stance you take? oh, good god, max, if a post ever deserved an eye roll... as stated earlier, i assume we've all accepted that our comments are specific to *this* enviornment specifically.
Ric -- they're not baseless claims. they're opinion. they're conjecture. on an internet sports board about sports. THE HORROR!!!!!!!
1. you seriously don't get the difference in conjecture about whether a player wants to play with another...and whether a player is breaking the law by taking steroids...or whether a person is a racist?? seriously??? are you seriously suggesting you think it arrogant and irresponsible, as a fan, to guess at what players might think about their teammates and whether they wish to continue playing with them?? 2. are you backtracking AGAIN???
Maybe, maybe no. After Carr's first performance vs. Tennessee: http://blogs.chron.com/lopezblog/archives/2006/10/just_in_time_fo.html We'll look at the game and the brewing quarterback controversy in detail in Monday's column, but tease you with this telling quote from Texans cornerback Dunta Robinson about Vince Young. It comes courtesy of Chronicle writer Jerome Solomon, but says as much about David Carr losing confidence in the locker room as anything: "(Young) didn't lose the game. He didn't have any turnovers. So that's a good job. Any quarterback that can manage the game is OK." ... After Carr's horrid performance vs. New England: http://blogs.chron.com/sportsjustice/archives/2006/12/weve_got_a_prob.html In the losing locker room, there were interesting words from Dunta Robinson... We've got a problem, and until we fix the problem, things are continue to be this way. What's the problem? That ain't for me to say. All I can say is that when you're a 4-10 team, you've got a lot of problems. Until we step up and say what the problem is, then it's not going to get better. Coincidence that he said this immediately after Carr's two worst performances? Perhaps. But he may just have hinted that he was dissatisfied with Carr.
So, I should never see a post from you or Major or msn asking for evidence when someone says anything on this site? I can post that I think Vince Young kills kittens and that's how he obtains his God-like power, then be upset if anyone asks for evidence to back up that claim?
So, this is what Ric was asking for originally, yet no one wanted to provide. Had you posted this then, maybe there wouldn't be three pages arguing about this.
fine, max: they're baseless opinions. and i've refuted them. talk about THE HORROR!!!!!!! but, ok, whatever - i look forward to you NEVER AGAIN refuting baseless OPINIONS in this forum.
see my post above. i know you know the difference. should i never expect to see a post from you or Ric again making conjecture about where a free agent will end up next year? that's what we're actually talking about.
Not even close to the same thing. I know you know the difference. If someone posted that they heard that Carlos Beltran was demanding a trade back to the Astros, would you a) buy your son a new Beltran jersey immediately or b) maybe ask for a source on the claim?
yes, because here's what he said a week later after the texans beat the colts: robinson's opinion of carr seems tied to the outcome of the game.
Holy crap. Over and over and over and over again, I've said it was just a reasonable possibility. I stated that I used terms like "think" and "might". How do "think" and "might" translate into a contention of fact? And, why did ignore this over and over and over, then come in just now and say, "if it's not a fact, what is it?" Are you being purposefully belligerent? No, it was a (how many times is this now?) reasonable possibility. I don't have issue with your disagreement (I've even said that before as well.) I acknowledged what you listed was possible. I *only* took issue with the moral accusations you levelled at me. And I still do. No way. If I attacked your character, hiding behind a keyboard and screen, you'd take issue with me. So no, I won't "save it". No, it was *not*. It was posted as an aside. This statement is an ASSUMPTION, and you've been preaching at all of us for nearly 24 hours about assumptions. Why are you allowed to when we aren't? I've gotten frustrated with you. That was one cheap shot among several that I've lobbed your way--you pissed me off. I'm sorry. Now, are you even going to acknowlege the poo you've flung at me? I don't mean to label you. This is one conversation, not your identity as a person.
Regardless, the Dunta quotes after the Tennessee and New England games were what you were asking for, correct?
