He's got some real accuracy and decision-making issues. He's got enough tools that he has some potential. Were I in the war room, I'd run it by Kubiak. If Kubiak thought he could make something out of him, I'd take him.
He's a winner. He has been at every level. He's got average tools, below average height, but he's got "it". He's the Drew Brees of this draft. Mark my words.
and i'm sure he'll kick major ass in the arena league and/or north of the border next year, too. but he won't be on an nfl roster on opening day.
There really was no sign of "it" before the national championship game. Even then, it really just turned out that Florida was better. Their defense kept them with great field position the entire game. Leak has talken, but he is no where near where Drew Brees was coming out of college.
Of course, Drew Brees was a high second round pick with a huge arm and all sorts of passing records. Chris Leak is a marginal second day pick with questionable arm strength and questionable size who threw all of maybe two passes beyond 5 yards in the national championship game. Big difference.
Nah, the interceptions were all longer than 5 yards. If you're going to give the ball away, at least have the decency to do it 10 yards or more downfield.
Leak was a vertical passer for 2 years under Zook. And was a very good one his sophomore year. Meyer came in, changed the system, and Leak became an effective West Coast, ball-control passer. He's going to be a good NFL QB.
At last check Kiper's mock said AP and after checking other mock scenarios, a grand majority have us getting AP as well (say 70% at least).
As much as people hate to admit it, but spending a high draft on a rb isn't too good or smart. There are exceptions and his name is LaDanian. Unless there is one or might be one, i'm not spending a top 10 pick. If we just sit back and think about it, the top 20 rushers in the league only LT,Edge, and thomas jones were top 10. Out of the top 10 rushers, only lt and lj were 1st rd picks. So why should the texans spend the #8 on a rb? I would rather go with who gil brandt and pat kirwin call the next warren sapp with his 1st step, explosion and burst to the qb. When you think about a guy penetrating in the middle and mario on the outside, that automatically makes the db's better. At rb, there are going to be plenty of guys in the 2nd or 3rd rd that can be or turn out to be stars or 1300yd backs. Then if you look at guys that will be on the market like Jamal Lewis,Thomas Jones,Mike Turner,or ahman green. I just thing you can find a guy to get 80yds a game.
Seriously, we're talkin about Chris Leak here. Notorious for folding up like a lawn chair the minute he's grazed by a DE.
Don't ignore the fact that guys like Addai and Maroney look like the real deal and were just being platooned as rookies so they didn't burn out cause they were on good teams. 1st rnders also, albeit late ones.
I dont like Leak either, but he did win the national championship. The texans have to go running back if AP is there.
