because he was very mediocre against the best opponents. because i was never that impressed. because had he been playing for anyone other than ND, we wouldn't be talking about him as highly. (i realize you didn't ask me! )
Penn State - 3 touchdown passes, 287 yards Michigan - 3 touchdown passes, 234 yards UCLA - 2 touchdown passes, 304 yards USC - 3 touchdown passes, 274 yards, and 74 yards running
did you want to add in the 3 INT's in the Michigan game?? how about the stats from the LSU game?? i think Brady Quinn is highly overrated. but i've been wrong before, and i'll certainly be wrong again.
Just not impressed. I don't have stats or anything to back up my opinion, it's just a gut feeling. To be honest, I really don't want them to draft a QB in the first round, but I think it'd be hard to pass up Russell.
There are a lot of factors that go into interceptions that make them unworthy of mention. Were the lights and or sun too bright? Did the receiver mess up the route? Did the ball bounce off someone's hands first and then end up in the opponent's? Did Brady purposely throw the interception to give himself an even greater challenge to overcome? It's just too complex... Bowl games are like exhibitions to me and...it was unfair for LSU to play in New Orleans.
i'm certainly on the side that believe Quinn is overrated. I think he and Troy Smith are on the same level right now for NFL potential (Quinn has some better factors--including the height advantage, and Smith has some better...overall I call it even). And Smith is slated to go late 3rd early 4th.
Light's too bright? The light was definitely too bright on Mr. Quinn. He is overrated. Maybe he proves the majority wrong. I think he'll probably end up being a Detroit Lion and for good reason. Detroit hasn't had a decent draft since they took Barry Sanders. No team does less with...well, less. The only QB worthy of the first round pick is Russell...even then, I'm not totally sold. I've heard LSU fans say that he is also overrated. I think he has a much greater upside. Either way, I'd prefer the Texans wait to see if they can get a Kolb or Troy Smith in the 2nd or 3rd round.
One of the funniest defenses of a QB I've ever read! "Did Carr purposefully fall on his ass to give himself an even greater challenge to overcome?" We'll never really know...
If you mean exhibition as in a good team beating up on a lesser team so they can warm up for bigger and better things, maybe. LSU would have beat Notre Dame in New Orleans, in Baton Rouge, in front of Touchdown Jesus in South Bend, or even in the Vatican. LSU was a lot better football team than Notre Dame.
Carr purposely wanted negative passing yards, knowing this would confuse the opposing defense and thus lead to a victory
geez, i have a history of making people angry while talking about football, now. not trying to make you angry. i just think quinn is overrated.
