Max, he's inviting you into his circle of trust, despite your shortcomings. Major, msn and you should be honored
So you can't ever think someone has an arrogant thought and still not think highly of that person? Seriously, I'm a little surprised you feel this way. He was trying to extend an olive branch and you snapped it.
No, he's trying to be a nice guy (and I've met Ric...he is a nice guy). I'm honestly surprised at the reaction to that.
You're probably right, and Ric I'm sorry, that is rude. But there are some things that came across as condescending in this thread so was a little irresistable. No need to gang up on each other (we are all Rocket fans after all), it really was a joke, sorry
What we need to keep in mind is that this is a message board. I've had so many unnecessary conflicts due to people taking a message or an e-mail in a way that it wasn't intended as well as me doing the same thing. Hell, I didn't talk to my brother for over half a year because of something like that. I could completely understand if Ric came in and called everyone dumb ***holes or something like that, but I just don't see it. And he's tried to make amends for anything that was taken the wrong way.
I'll be honest, Ric...you already know I'm not thrilled with your approach to discussion here. I'm not going to lie or pretend that's not the case. I honestly don't speak with anyone else here who frustrates me more. Not because we disagree, but because of the WAY we disagree. But if I have caused you any grief or trouble, I am truly sorry. I don't mean to be a butthead, it just comes natural.
Now that that's behind us, on to business. --Shore up the lines. --Cut David Carr, cap hit and all. Move on as Kubiak sees fit. --Shore up the pass rush. --Evaluate the corners. --Evaluate the running game. Or, draft ADAP. *Disclaimer: I don't expect folks to agree. In fact, I expect quite the opposite. Mostly because I don't know jack ---- about managing a football roster. *Disclaimer2: This is just my lame attempt to re-rail what I've de-railed.
I'll help msn... 1--Cut David Carr, cap hit and all. Move on as Kubiak sees fit.(this is now almost as much a move in symbolism, goodwill, fostering hope for the future as it is for performance) 2a--Shore up the O-line, as much as possible through draft, FA, trades 2b--Shore up the D-line. draft mainly unless there is a good FA' 3--Evaluate the corners. 4--Shore up the pass rush. 5--Evaluate the running game. (Or, draft ADAP - if available and one of our lineman isn't there, or we can't trade down for something worthwhile) ***As always, these are just my thoughts

Well now we know he's just guessing. There's no way Detroit does the right thing. They'll probably draft Calvin Johnson. I know we all despise Charley Casserly for what he did here, but is there a worse GM in football history than Matt Millen? When you consider Ford just had their largest quarterly loss in the company's history, you can see that the top of their chain is just (as KingCheetah would put it) retarted. That's the only possible excuse for keeping this mental midget around to run the show. Personally, I hope that Branch somehow falls to 8. He fills a much greater need. If not, I can certainly live with AP.
Good points. Yes, Matt Millen has shown zero ability to build a team, but Casserly IMO is a very close second in futility. The FA pool will obviously narrow our needs to be filled in the draft. Some things to ponder ... should we make a play for burner Turner in SD? Since I found out he is a RFA that means he would cost us anywhere between a first to a third round pick. Personally, I really dont want to give up any picks because in all reality we need another solid draft to get us really going in the right direction. 1st round picks generally go especially with top 10, either fill big need and/or best player available. For the Texans, depending upon the scenario presented, stockpiling drafts by trading down may be their best option especially, if Thomas (top 5 projection) and or AP are no longer on the board. The problem with the Turner deal is like I said we need MORE draft picks not less. You only trade draft picks if one the player IS or WILL be an instant star or you have a specific niche to fill that is not easily as good a fit if you fill that possibility through the draft. For the Texans, sorry to say but right now they are not even close to a complete team so I dont think this is a good option for us.
RB is definitely a major need. Does it have to be addressed with the #8 pick if (for some reason) Joe Thomas or Alan Branch are sitting there? I'm going to give Kubiak & crew at least one more shot at finding that diamond in the rough for RB. Failing that, Ahman Green might like the opportunity to come play for Mike Sherman again. He's certainly not a long term option, but he's better than what they've currently got.
Well the Texans at the very least need a RB who can do what Williams/Davis did as far as the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield and also carry it 20-25 times. Dayne/Lundy/Taylor/Gado can all compete for one or two roster spots for the change of pace back.
I wouldn't mind DD/W at 100%, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. I don't think they're counting on him even being on the roster. I don't know what this does for the cap, but I can't see any way he's a Texan next season.
Yeah, I'll be pissed if they pass on AP because of DD/W, but from the quotes Kubiak gave a couple weeks ago, they're not expecting him to return. I'll pretty much only be pissed with our first pick if we take a WR not named Calvin Johnson, a fullback, a QB not named Jamarcus Russell or a middle linebacker. Other than that, we need them all.
