@johnelway: We are thrilled to announce that the Broncos have agreed to terms on a new four-year contract with cornerback Champ Bailey.
Wow, there goes one of our options. Welp, this could possibly dictate what the market value for a guy like Ike Taylor is.
The Broncos defense actually gave up more points than the Texans last year. Champ Bailey at $10mil/per for four years at age 33 is a big leap of faith. If the Texans had signed him to that I'd be gnashing my teeth. If we could get Taylor for that sort of deal, I'd be pleased.
Denver is actually worse off than Houston the way Hoodie jr. mortgaged the team's future en route to a 4-12 season.
With the signing A. They might pass on Paterson and get some help somewhere else on the defensive side B. They pick Paterson and let Baily groom him. I hope its A.
*Peterson And im not sure what your hoping for, unless Texans trade up theres no way he's going to last till we pick
So, Champ's off the board. It's EASILY safe to say that PatPete and Prince will both be gone by the time the Texans pick (possibly to Tennessee and Dallas, respectively). Crappy thing is, if one of them is available two picks before us, one of those rivals will definitely take them. No doubt about it. But hey, at least we won our last game, right? We won that one for Kubes...he deserved that much. It was the least his kids could do for him and the organization. They worked their butts off out there and we should all be proud of them. Kareem Jackson will improve next year. Derp.
Texans are in position to trade up since the teams trading down won't fall too far, but I don't think the Texans have the guts to do it since they cherish their draft picks and build off it instead of free agency.
I'm not sure if you're trying to criticize the Texans or not, but you realize you just described every team in the NFL right??
Raiders keep CB Routt with three-year contract extension The Oakland Raiders have agreed to terms on a three-year contract extension with cornerback Stanford Routt, a source with knowledge of the situation said Thursday. Routt, a six-year pro, was an offseason priority for the Raiders after the team voided the contract of perennial Pro Bowl pick Nnamdi Asomugha, who likely is leaving via free agency. Routt will earn a maximum of $31.5 million during his contract, including $20 million over the first two years, according to league sources. The deal places him in the upper echelon of cornerbacks (Champ Bailey's new contract averages roughly $11 million per season, for instance). Securing Routt at this rate could further lessen Oakland's ability to give Asomugha the type of top-of-the-market deal he will command. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000...eeyear-contract-extension?module=HP_headlines
That leaves like 3 legit starting CB's as free agents now, according to Charlie Pallilo yesterday afternoon.
