You guys might think I'm crazy, cause we have so many holes to fill, but we should do what the Falcons did in 04 when they drafted Matt S. in the third round even though they had Vick in beast mode at the time and then flipped him a couple years later for the right to switch spots in the first round and two 2nd rounders. I say go after need in free agency and the first 2 rounds but then if he slips in the third round, we draft TCU's Andy Dalton. Those two dudes on Epsn says he is the sleeper in this years QB draft class and could be a good one in 3 or 4 years. They said he is projected to be in the 2nd or 3rd round. Withh such a handsome return if everything goes according to plan why wouldn't take this guy in the 3rd round if he slips that far since its a crap shoot anyways. He need a QB of the future anyways.
Those two doods on ESPN you are referring to, is it Kiper and McShay? You'll learn to ignore what they say once you see how they change opinions every week before the draft, and again 6 months from now when you see how bad/wrong their picks were.
You probably don't remember but we did that back when we had David Carr a couple years in and drafted NFL Europe MVP Dave Ragone in the 3rd round. Look how that turned out.
If everything goes according to plan, then he wouldn't see the field until, minimum, 2013. No way you waste a top 100 pick on a confirmed back-up. Especially if you're a 6-10 team needing to fill holes up and down your roster prior to what should be a make-or-break season for your front office and coaching staff. In fact, if the Texans do ANYTHING that isn't designed to make them better in 2011, McNair should fire the entire organization on the spot.
Yeah, the Eagles were a pretty solid team all around back when Vick was dominant as an Eagle (or at least that's how I remember them). They had a much better defense than the Texans and offensively they had enough weapons to be effective. The Texans are so lacking on defense I can't see them justifying drafting a future QB that early in the draft.
What do you guys think of this mock with a trade: http://www.gbnreport.com/2011projection.html New England acquires the 11th pick from Houston for the 17th and 60th picks 17P Houston (from New England) *Akeem Ayers LB UCLA 42 Houston Curtis Brown CB Texas 60P Houston (from New England) DeAndre McDaniel FS Clemson 73 Houston Kenrick Ellis NT Hampton
I'm prediciting it this year so bring a jacket. If Belichick is a genius it means he will change his tendencies. Brady is 34, now or neverland for NFL QB's, and he has no #1 WR. There is a top quality #1 WR that will be available around #5 and he has all the ammo he needs to get him and never miss the extra choices.
I think it's possible he trades up if one of those 2 WR prospects fall. When was the last time a team amassed double picks in the first 4 rounds like this? They have a lot of room to operate within, and will probably entertain a lot of offers.
you make a good point but offense isnt/wasnt NE's problem. Brady has proven he can throw to cans of tomatoes and still put up a great offensive numbers.
They'll probably make numerous moves to trade down with those picks, and end up with four picks in each round next year.
All your other reasons are sound but this one. Belichick hasn't "changed his tendencies" in a decade and has remained a successful genius the entire time. No reason to think it will happen now, just for the sake of change.
Shaun Rogers continues to talk about how he would love to play for the Texans. http://www.nationalfootballpost.com...tml?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
Hmmmm, I don't know.....he looks a little too mean to be one of the "kids" on our battlefightin' team.
I hope Rogers doesn't become another Schobel situation around here. There is a lot to blame them for, but not overpaying for an unmotivated Aaron Schobel and not overpaying for Shaun Rogers are not among those things. I'm all for giving him a reasonable contract and giving him a shot. If he's healthy and motivated, he's easily better than what we have. I hope we get him under those terms...he might even have a chip on his shoulder and go back to his old self. But he's only started 12 games in two years, so there is a lot of doubt about him ... I'm not going to lite a fire under management if he goes to a team that gives him a payday (which I don't think will happen).
