not to mention where the playbook where their D line completely dominates the texans Oline. The knowing of the gameplan argument is pretty flimsy. At that time, the giants front was dominating and the texans have issues with very physical defensive fronts
I know you want to believe in this very badly and I would like to as well but I just can't get over how helpless and pathetic Wade looked once teams figured out his defense up here. To me, assuming that all will be well just because Wade had good defenses in the past is setting yourself up. I am concerned about what he did (or didn't do) last season because this was something over which he had total control. Let's be clear here: this is NOT about him as a head coach - rather it's about the job he did as defensive coordinator and that was shaky at best. The biggest failure with the Cows was Wade's defense and he had much better players to work with than he'll have here. And all of the off season talk with the Cows now concerns the "fixing" of their defense. But as I posted before maybe he will be able to resurrect himself as Dom now appears to have done. And truth be told, if he can get them into the mid to high teens statistically, he'll have performed a minor miracle. But the one thing about Wade that concerns me is that the longer he's around, the worse things become and my greatest fear is that he's the "head coach in waiting". Meh... Maybe Wade can coach these guys up, I just don't know. They have been so bad at talent evaluation on the defense for so long that I remain skeptical about this organization's ability to get it right now. I guess I'll have to see results on the field from Wade, Kubiak and Smith before I'm convinced that this was a good move.
Dude, all the Titans have to do is look at film of the Jets game. It's no real secret on how to negate the ZBS - all the DCs in the league know how to stop it.
Houston native Shaun Rogers? Cleveland is probably switching to a 4-3 with Jauron as their new DC, and with Rubin doing so well, there are other reasons they'd have cut him besides just underperforming.
Not sure. Money? Injury? Not performing? Gun situation he had? New coach who wants his own players? I dont know Cut a few other guys too. Yes he is, ha. 6'4 350.
Kubiak on Titans hiring of Matthews: "We're extremely excited for Bruce in becoming the offensive line coach in Tennessee. It's a step in his career and we're happy for he and his family."
Possibly. He was a pro-bowler just 2 seasons back and never seemed to fully recover from ankle surgery back in 2009 (probably his fault more than anything). But I think we should definitely give him a shot, if he can get into any type of decent shape, he'd be an upgrade over Okoye and Cody.
Phillip Hunt The Texans have joined the Vikings in showing interest in CFL pass rusher Phillip Hunt. The window to sign CFL players ends on February 15. Hunt, 23, looks the part of a 3-4 OLB like the Texans need at 6'2/260. He also is a Houston native, having played college ball for the Cougars. As a member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers this past season, Hunt led the Canadian League with 16 sacks. Feb. 8 - 11:01 am et
It would be nice to have a Cougar finally make the Texans squad. P-Hunt was our own little version of Dwight Freeney down on Cullen. Super quick and ferocious hitter.
I'm all for moves that reduce the pressure on the draft to fill serious holes in the defense. As much as possible, you want to be free to go BPA and not screw around reaching for need and taking overwhelmed rookies. Given Phillip's emphasis on penetration from his DT, I don't know that he'd push for Rodgers (or any classic NT). He's not big on space eaters. I can't say I love that about his scheme, but it is what it is.
Yeah, just saw... https://twitter.com/caplannfl Eagles are expected to sign DE Phillip Hunt. He's expected to take the team physical some time today.
