So they can get the guy in that they planned to start in the first place once they realized Deshaun wasn't going to play.
To me that would depend on the trade package received for Deshaun. If we get the draft pick/capital to get our "new guy" immediately this draft, then Smith would probably be a good mentor for him and would not make waves when replaced the following year. And he would be a good, veteran backup qb after that as well. But if we trade Deshaun and don't immediately get our QBotF this year, then I don't want someone like Smith here. I have no desire to just "tread water" and be average to bad. Just be pathetically bad until we get our QB. Of course with our roster even an average/above average qb like Smith might not elevate us too much.
Was thinking about it this morning. If Deshaun is out, who is the face of this franchise? Looking at the roster, even the coaches, and my god there isn’t anyone iconic at all. This team has absolutely no identity whatsoever right now. Tunsil maybe? Jeez...
So now that it is clear that Watson will not be playing in a Texans uniform this season they should seriously consider trading Tunsil. There is no reason to have a franchise LT if you don’t have a franchise QB.
They’ve quite literally traded or let walk every franchise player. Hopkins, Clowney, Watt, Fuller, and soon Watson. Shocker this team has now the worst roster in the NFL and no 1st or 2nd round picks to boot.
looks like they signed someone else to replace him I thought he played well and should be back but I guess they could give him another deal idk
