Stats wise if it weren’t for that ACL tear deshauns stats would be the gold standard for first 2 years of a QB’s career with Herbert challenging those. Talent wise Herbert is right there with him. Deshaun is overall more athletic but Herbert has a better arm(3rd or 4th best in the league). But even before the off the field stuff I wouldn’t trade Herbert if I’m the Chargers. Or Burrow if I’m the Bengals(disclaimer: I’m an LSU fan). Hot take: On their best day, I’d pick Josh Allen over Mahomes, dude is just flat out talented all over the place
Right. I’m not sure Watson is more athletic than Herbert. Same 40 time. And Watson has lost some explosiveness after his injury. Probably a wash with the legs. Arm, size and youth are all on Herbert side. Allen has more physical tools than all of them like you said. Either way, there are a few young QBs that are on par or better than Watson now.
