Different front office now, so if you make more than they feel is appropriate you will be let go. I don't think McKinney is gonna get a long term deal coming off surgery and being > 30. So he might be back as a backup at a lower salary.
I understand the money deal. But McKinney is a better guard than Weary or whoever we are running out there on the right side. Sure hope he re-signs with us and gets some incentive bonus tied to starting games.
I agree especially he can play multiple positions. And could they re-work his contract? Maybe as a courtesy for McKinney, see if you can get more money first, if not your welcomed back.
HOUSTON -- NFL sources told FOX 26 Sports the Houston Texans will meet with free agent cornerback Andre Dyson Thursday. The Texans continue in their efforts to rebuild their secondary from top to bottom. Dyson is a seven -year veteran who played the last two years with the New York Jets. He began his career in Tennessee where he played for four years and he also played one year with Seattle. Dyson has 22 career interceptions including a career high of six with the Titans in 2004. The Texans were also meeting Wednesday with free agent safety Nick Ferguson. http://www.myfoxhouston.com/myfox/p...n=2&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=6.1.1 I've heard the Texans were interested in Dyson for a while now. Glad they are finally brining him in for a visit. I think if they end up signing Dyson they'll draft a OT in the draft. I keep hearing about the guy from Vanderbilt.
More news .... Looks like another Bronco is going to sign with the Texans ... It better be for the league minimum http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/5651344.html The Texans continue targeting one of their biggest areas of need during free agency — the secondary. The Texans are expected to add another former Denver Bronco to their roster by signing safety Nick Ferguson, 33, as early as today. Ferguson appeared in 12 games last season, starting seven for the Broncos. A knee injury landed him on the injured reserve in December. Ferguson, 5-foot-11 and 201 pounds, is entering his ninth season. The Texans will also meet with cornerback Andre Dyson, 28, at Reliant Stadium today. Dyson, 5-foot-10 and 183 pounds, is entering his eighth season. He spent the first four seasons of his career as a starter for the Tennessee Titans. He has since spent one season in Seattle and two with the New York Jets. Dyson had 12 tackles and one interception in nine appearances with the Jets last season.
Not a bad pickup. Dude had a kicka$$ Transformers jacket on when they showed him on Ch. 26 a little while ago. Dyson wouldn't be a bad move either. Things are startin to come together, Pepper.
If Champ Bailey wanted to sign with the Texans, we should turn him down too, right? After all, Broncos are inherently terrible!!!
Looks like the Vikings are going to sign Gus Frerotte. I like Sage a lot but this was a good opportunity for the Texans to pick up an extra pick. A 2nd rounder would obviously have been great but I think a 3rd rounder in a draft this deep would have been pretty good value as well.
gus frerotte is a back-up. if the vikings were willing to deal a 3 for rosenfels, then they obviously don't view him as a back-up.
The startribune was talking about Sage as a backup. If they weren't looking at Sage as a backup, do you think they've given up on T. Jackson?
if you're willing to part with a top 80(-ish) pick, it's either because you think the guy can start for you or you're charley casserly. back-ups and depth are important... but not at the expense of a possible starter. my guess is that they're not sold on jackson, think rosenfels can beat him out and are willing to risk a 3 on it. again, why are we not discussing chester taylor with them? perfect swap of back-ups.
Ric, is the Houston Pro Football website you work on still running? The links aren't working at the moment. Incidentally, maybe the Texans can't pick up Taylor because of the salary difference.
yeah, our payment was due april 1; we've been debating the site's future so the deadline kinda slipped through the cracks and then BAM! they shut it down on april 2. kinda harsh. i'm 99.99999999999% certain its going to go away and return in a new, better form. thanks for asking. you mean mathcing 'em up like they do in the nba, right? man, i'm completely ignorant of all things salary cap, but i don't believe salary is an issue as long as the team can absorb it.
I really enjoyed my time there with the exception of some less than desirable posters. I bailed out of there quickly after being told I was in the wrong for complaining about a anti-semitic joke by many posters and a mod or 2.
well that sucks. unless, of course, the joke was genuinely funny - i mean.... you know. yeah, the NFL is after us and being rather prick-ish about it, so - like i said, the site is probably going away.
FIGHT THE POWER RIC!!! I was a pretty frequent visitor to HPF so that sucks to see it get shut down. Do you know of any other dedicated website for Texan fans? I try to keep this forum updated with Texan news as much as I can but I guess it is the offseason and things are slow. But the draft is 3 weeks away!!
