I see it now. Cooks to Browns for Baker Mayfield and the Browns first round pick. Quid Pro Quo. Wishful thinking.
As good as Cooks has been I don't think anyone is paying that, which is probably the point. He's a solid #1, might as well keep him and give Mills the best chance to develop
It might a case that the Texans aren't looking to move Cooks but if someone is crazy enough to trade a second rounder they would jump all over it.
I appreciate that he wants to be here...I am curious what his extension looks like. Anything less than 20 mill per year is a bargain.
Meh, is it good, is it bad, meh, it's par for the course today. If you could have gotten a 30-40ish range pick for him you do it, save money and draft replacement(s). Either they couldn't or wouldn't. Top WR salaries are ludicrous and no smart way to allocate cap dollars. I understand the idea of having somebody on offense for Mills to get the ball to.
I like Cooks, but was on the fence as well if we could get a solid pick for him. However, this extension likely means there wasn't any decent offers for him and the team believes he offers more value as a player and locker room leader. So in sum, I'm glad Brandon is staying and believe he'll continue to help Mills development. I do still want to add another young WR or two in the draft. Really like Alec Pierce and Christian Watson, both big and fast playmakers. Would also like to take a look at a slot with a later pick.
