The end of games says it all... when defenses decide to back down the pressure, and play "prevent", the offense is able to do what its designed to do... quick passes downfield, comeback routes, and TE posts. Sage benefitted from this as well in the Titans game, as Carr has in three other games this season. The question is, will this team be able to do these things when the defense is still rushing their 4-men base defense. The fact that they can still pressure the QB without rushing extra men is a HUGE problem. (allowing safeties and LB's to still drop back in coverage). And then, you have to wonder what they'll be able to do when a defense actually brings extra blitzers routinely... Kubiak still has a ways to go with this offense.
I wish i could be a texans fan but I was never able to enjoy them in the first years when they started and i was always a titans fan. i watch them on sundays because thats the only game on in Houston. i can agree i shouldnt want them to fail, but I feel like they have made horrible offseason moves and are going nowhere. the non-drafting of VY or any QB only intensified my outrage
Subshine pumpers, is it ok for the Tank pics yet??? Too bad we don't play Jacksonville more than twice a season.
Just think of the damage Bush could have done behind the Texans offensive line!!! 1.8 yards per rush today. Does the OL show their face in public nowadays?
Our offensive line is horrible, no matter what RB or QB you put back there your going to have crap for results. Each week they are hit or miss. One week good one week bad....can't get anything consistant out of them.
I know that no one wants to hear this, but I have to say it. Vince Young just lead the Titans from 3 TDs down in the fourth to win the game against the Giants. And know the Titans have more wins than we do with VY leading their team. I know that no one can change the draft, but it just ticks me off that David Carr is in his fifth season and he can't lead this team for crap while VY is only a rookie and he has turned around a Titan season that was supposed to go nowhere.
I don't know what to say. I'm tired of defending this QB, this franchise, this front office, the draft, this coaching staff, etc. Just like I said would happen on page 1 of this thread, the Jets play a cover-2 and we do NOTHING on offense all day. Same crap that happened last year. The chuck-and-duck offense leads to a whooping 3 points (I don't count that last meaningless TD) all freakin' day. I don't know if it's Carr or Kubiak, but something has to change. If Kubiak doesn't have the confidence in Carr to open up the offense, then we need a QB who he DOES have confidence in. I don't want to hear about our O-line. Look at what the titans did today. It's been 5 years and we're still an expansion team. And there appears to be no light at the end of the tunnel besides the 3 or 4 actual players we have on our team.
another day, another loss... I wasn't able to see the game in dallas, but let me guess, Carr sucked... I wish we had VY, just seeing him on the highlights made me PO'd...not at him, but the Texans...He's just a special player and you don't get those everyday...
David Carr is a backup QB, at best. The ongoing denial of that FACT by this franchise is frustrating. He does nothing but throw dink and dunk crap all day because he is scared of getting hit. His pocket presence doesnt exist. He plays not to lose instead of playing to win. The sooner we get another QB, the sooner we will win more consistently. The team is just lifeless under Carr...flat out LIFELESS. Of course, Carr isnt the only problem, there are many, but he is a big problem. Eliminate the problem.
I really want to see them win and I don't think Carr is the QB to do this. I would rather have Sage or someone else at this point.
You think Carr is the qb for teh future? (and no I'm not saying it should have been vince or anyone specific)
Vince, Vince, he's our man, if anyone can miss a draft pick, the Texans can! No I will never "get over it." I still can't believe we have Mario What's his name. Some rookie who is truly a "What's his name" has eight sacks this season. Saw him on one of the televised games, can't remember which one. Vince had a "break out" game today, but this is just the beginning. He has "it." You can't teach "it." You can't acquire "it." No one can give you "it." But the Texans could have had Vince and perhaps several other players out of a trade for Carr. That's history, but, unfortunately, so are the Texans.
Bingo. If you have the chance to draft a QB whose primary asset is that he has a freaky knack for leading his team to victory, you jump on that opportunity, because it doesn't come around that often. Reggie Bush is like Archie Griffin -- a truly great college back who just didn't quite have what it takes to be all that great in the pros. As for Mario, I still think he'll turn out to be a special player, but not special enough to pass on a winning-mentality QB for.
