CATCH THE FREAKING BALL! That's at least a 3 point mistake... in a game that will be decided by FG's.
Yet another game where Carr & the offense do nothing for 15 minutes. They look listless, lifeless and just plain sorry out there. I'd give Carr one more series to start the 2nd half and if he continues to fail moving the team, then I'd have to go with Rosenfels. At some point, Carr has to lift this team up and make some plays.
Man that field goal return thing was funny. In my head, I was like number 18? Isn't that Sage? And the announcers said it was. I started LOL ROFLing and stuff like LOL.
Bottom line is that when Carr is out there this team doesn't score enough points. Just a lack of big plays.
I turn to Fox just in time to see Brees throw a hail mary to end the half. Perfectly thrown, and perfectly timed jump. Wow! ([sarcasm]I'm sure Reggie Bush probably called the play and rubbed magic fairy dust on the receiver.[/sarcasm] I heard a couple announcers compare Troy Smith to Brees which made some sense to me. I've heard some people project Smith to be a late 1st/early 2nd. Would you take him if he's there in the 2nd round, or do we have too many other needs? I'm just not convinced this team believes in Carr.
I know that I am a Carr apologist, but he has made some good throws today that were flat out dropped. AJ makes that catch at the end of the half and the Texans might only be 3 down and getting the ball to start the second half.
It's not only that. When Carr is out there, this team sort of just sloggs along without any excitement or emotion. The offense just sputters while creeping along until a penalty or defensive play stops them and forces a punt. Once again, the Texans are in a very winnable game but so far have done little to take advantage of that fact.
I don't understand 3 yard play action passes to the tight end. What in the hell? Play action is for intermediate and deep passes not for 3 yard dump offs to the tight end. Give me a damn break.
2 yard passes on 3rd and 4 are just stupid, and really typical of the Texans this year. It's like a prevent offense.
Great field position after that punt... gotta take advantage, and get it right back. EDIT: another "all-out" blitz that never gets close to Pennington, and allows a wide open reception.
Giving a guy ALL DAY to throw... and attempting to guard WR's with LB's... unbeliveable. The Jets clearly adjusted to this defense's inability to defend the pass one-on-one.
