Every time we play these guys we seem turnover prone. This game is always close. I expect Matt Schaub to have another stellar game.
Prediction ...... JJ has 5 sacks, 7 batted balls with 3 leading to pick 6's, and 1 anal reaping of Blaine..... And then Ubigidiot will post about what a good but not great job he did.
Ultimately, this game comes down to the trenches. Our D-line HAS to stay in their gaps so that MJD can't burst through the holes into the second level all game. Once he gets going, he's one of the toughest backs in the league to bring down. We can't let him gash us for 8-9 yard gains every carry. That, coupled with solid pressure on Gabbert, should be enough for a victory. I don't see this game being easy, nor do I see it being a high-scoring affair. This is going to be an ugly, grind-it-out type game with the Texans winning 24-14 or something along those lines.
Whoa there, mother****er. You can't just force a "Whoa there, mother****er" just because you want to see more "Whoa there, mother****er"s used. You have to use the "Whoa there, mother****er"s where they come naturally and not just any old post where you'd like to insert a "Whoa there, mother****er."
Not worried about the Jags.. The only person who can really hurt us is MJD. Gabbert has improved a little from what I saw the other day but he still sucks. Blackmon wont be a factor really unless we make him a factor. Wrap this one up early, I don't want anyone getting injured for week 3 against the Broncos.
Always Beware Division Games, Especially on the Road What we should hope for is the early struggles against Miami to spur the team into playing sharper. Even the cupcakes aren't really cupcakes in this league. Jacksonville boasts a far better run game and pass defense than Miami, and their run defense isn't shabby. Gabbert doesn't deserve that much respect, but he is going to be slightly more dangerous after an offseason of work and getting Justin Backmon and Laurent Robinson to go with Mercedes Lewis. The Jags staff also got an offseason to take a second look at how they want to face the Phillips' defense. I'd expect them to follow Miami's early formula, designed to exploit our 5-forward attack. Depend on the run game and quick throws to negate the pass rush. I'll go out on a limb and guess they'll tell Gabbert to pay attention to where Watt is lined up. For the offense, we go from facing an underwhelmed 1-man secondary to a fairly stout one. Rashean Mathis is one of the better corners in the league to put on AJ, and he's got decent help behind him. This is one of the few squads (NYJ being another) that can occasionally go man coverage on us and press forward against the run. I will mention Derek Cox.....cause he's a fellow W&M man. I'm not terribly concerned about this front four. The line should rebound against them. Polunsky and Smith are very good at the second level, but Allen (L OLB) isn't quite as fierce. If the right side of the line finds traction in the run game, that's where we want to attack. The linebackers will probably lock up Foster/Tate on most runs behind Brown. The last obvious thing to say is we can't get our butts kicked on special teams they way they were on Sunday. Holliday shouldn't be on the team flight home if he struggles as badly again...but it's not like he got much support in front of him. I'd expect a fired up Jags team. They hate us and they're mad that one slipped away on the road in Minnesota. I'd rather play them in Jacksonville when they realize they're eliminated and the stadium is empty, but we're still more than capable of tearing them apart. 20-13, Houston
this game worries me, particualrly our ineffectiveness against the run... for some reason jax always plays us hard in jacksonville. their defense is much better than miami's so we won't be able to spread it out as much, especially if our running game continues to struggle. truth be told, i could see us losing this one but will say 24-18 good guys.
Jacksonville's whole defense is suspect. They played us tough before, because we were never good. We should win by atleast two touchdowns. Their O-line is having serious issues, and MJD is still rusty. The Miami game was a terrific wake up call. 35-13 Texans
Let us not forget that Ponder just threw for almost 300 yards on this secondary, and AP almost got 100 on the ground in his first game back. I am not really worried about us being able to move the ball. We always seem to have costly turnovers against this team; no turnovers will equal a win. I have some worries about the defense. MJD, Marcedes, and Blackmon will give us some trouble.
just worried about the run defense....MJD...D Manning had to make alot of plays against the fins... I think the offense gets on track this game...
Among other things, hope to see improvement with special teams. Holliday looked like a deer in headlights last game.
Division games never go how you expect them to. I think we pull out the win and we get on track offensively. Like other posters have mentioned MJD could cause us a lot of trouble if Bush was able to find the holes he did the last game. Might be a lot closer game then we think but I still believe we pull out the victory. 20 - 16
Need to pay attention to our O line specifically Wade Smith, Antoine Caldwell, our inside run game wasn't that great in the Fins game. Need to watch Cushing and Bradie James, Cushing had a so so game beside the INT and Bradie James was playing crappy enough to get subbed by Dobbins but I think Dobbins got hurt and James went back in. The 2 ILBs is key if MJD will go wild on us.
^ This. A very good analysis. I was hopeful of having more confidence after seeing the first game than I do. Kubiak apparently feels the same. The Texans don't look like the juggernaut that we were hoping for, but it is early. I am hoping for a strong showing against a division opponent that I sincerely dislike. It is likely to be a hard fought game, but it is critical that the Texans show improvement and win. A loss would be very discouraging and raise serious questions.
I understand not being overconfident or whatever, but you guys are giving the jaguars way too much credit. Come on now.
