T.J. may surprise us, moe has a good feeling about him and moe usually is right bout a lot of football matters - We can do it! C'mon guys get back on this train
The bright side of things is that we have 5-6 weeks to find a QB that could help us win in the playoffs. Whether that is Yates remains to be seen. I doubt that he is ready for the big stage. We can still win 12. 13 if we somehow win next week.
yates didn't look that bad on the last drive of the first half. i actually think it was wise of kubiak to play such a conservative 2nd half. jags, despite the injuries, have a pretty ferocious defense. we'll see what he can do with a week's prep. i remain optimistic.
I sure hope that TJ Yates is a Tom Brady in the making... Get this kid some confidence and let's see where he can go!
Great win by the Texans. I was frustrated by the conservative offense, but that was the game plan and it worked, so good job by Kubiak also. I feel bad for Leinart, but Yates looked like he knew what he was doing, and I look forward to seeing what he can do. I hope we can find a solid backup somewhere.
Me.....still in disbelief Just stunned about what has happened in the last 2 weeks. From top of the world feeling...even thinking maybe a chance at the Super Bowl. To...this ....
Least we don't have to face the Packers on the road to the Super Bowl; AFC is still up for grabs. If this defense can continue it's spectacular play, and we at least make teams respect the pass, anything can happen.
Looks like a long playoff run is not likely, maybe no playoffs at all, BUT I feel different about the team, there is hope for the future. In the past the future was the past. Same ole, same ole. With a solid defense to count on, and many young weapons on offense, the future looks bright. Schaub and Lienart aren't dead, both will be back next season. Yates impressed me during pre season, after a week of practice as the starter, give him a chance. Hopefully, he will be allowed to do more than hand the ball off to Foster for one yard gains.
It'll be interesting to see Yates after a week preparing with the first team. It sucks that we're back to unknown status. I think it's pretty clear that we're superbowl contenders with a healthy Schaub and this defense considering the state of the AFC this season. I imagine we could be even better next season. I'll say the playoffs aren't a lock anymore though certainly I expect us to still get in.
Sure; you don't have to bomb it out. But that doesn't make the first downs to kill the clock any less important.
They aren't unimportant... but they ended up killing the clock with the 10 point lead being enough without getting a whole lot of first downs anyways. So, they just proved that it CAN be done... provided you have a great defense. Mistakes were the only thing that could have lost this game. Their mistakes already made it closer than it needed to be (Foster's fumble)... they didn't need anymore, especially when they were losing the field position battle.
Nah, I think I like a certain style of play, and my way is the way I like.....doesn't mean anyone else's opinion or what they like is any worse etc. There is more than one way to skin a cat. DD
Beat the Colts and Tennessee can't take the division without leapfrogging us in he standings. Magic Number is 4, we still have the Colts and they have to face the Saints and Falcons. But Damn. All of a sudden, we're staring at 1-4 or maybe 2-3 to close the year out. Could've really used a Titan defeat today. Okay Yates, time to go Brady for us.
If we weren't expecting Leinart to be like Brady... why should we expect Yates? The role stays the same... game manager with the occasional big throw will keep this team competitive. The running game was crap today, but that will improve with more wrinkles installed in the offense for Yates, and the return of Vickers. And if Yates shows improvement as the season goes on, they will open up the playbook for him. Nobody we would play in the first round (presuming that Baltimore and New England win out) would really scare me... not even the Jets.
