2nd most embarrasing moment in Texans history behind only Vince Young's 60 yard TD run in OT a few years back. And probably the nail in the coffin for playoff hopes.
Let's say the Texans really do go 1 for their next 5.....that would put them at 5-9. If the Texans end up finishing somewhere around 6-10, does a Bill Cowher or a Jon Gruden really even look at our team as a "sexy" location to come coach?? Or do they feel like the damage that Kubiak and his regime have done on our psyches is irreversible?? I just don't know how to feel anymore.....this team has ripped my heart out on too many occassions.
Gus' comments were crazy on that play....why in the video does the inzone say Texans....fail on whoever created it. But man...this loss hurt. I was in disbelief when it happened. For a minute I forgot we were tied and thought the game was over when we couldn't make it down for the field goal. Then the hail mary and game over...I was like WTF.
every year big expectation for this team, and they keep on loosing year in and year out, maybe it's time to change the head coach or the change the defensive coordinator..?
or bat it down not backwards. i dislike the secondary with a passion they are beyond incompetent. I don't know who i dislike more quin or jackson
The final play is a distraction from a Texans loss that looked like any other Texans loss. 1. did we make Garrard look like Manning? - check! 2. did we give a receiver his best day of the year? - check! 3. did we continue to look like the worst pass defense since the invention of the forward pass? - check! 4. did we need 30+ points to win? - check!!!!!! The offense has to be nearly perfect every week. They score 30..or they lose. That's completely unrealistic. I'll say only one thing about the last play...knocking it down is a fine decision. Nothing wrong with that. It's what you're taught. But if you're going to knock it down, knock it DOWN!! Not horizontally out in front of you...but knock it down to your feet. Batting it out in front of you as a loose ball to a guy standing 3 yards off you..where he never has to even dive to the turf to catch it...means you did it wrong. Fine idea...awful execution. But don't waste your time talking about that play...it's HOW they lost...but it's not WHY they lost.
Hang in there v... after 8 years of this, sometimes it just becomes comical, but you laugh to stop from crying... not because any of this actually amuses us. This is maybe the least upset I've been after a loss this season. The floor has completely fallen out on my expectations of this team. I couldn't think less of their chances on a weekly basis. We are an incredibly flawed team and for the first time in 4 years, I'm advocating a coaching change... and perhaps a front office change.
Agreed 1000%. Right idea, terrible execution on the play. Should not have even mattered though. If the Texans were a good team that play would not have even happened.
Quin did the right thing. It just worked out poorly. DB's are always taught to bat the ball down. If he goes for the catch and it bounces of his hands or shoulder pads and gets caught, people would be going nuts that he didn't bat it down. That's a 50 or so yard pass in the air to a db. I'll take my chances with him batting it down. Kubiak shouldn't have a job thios morning. I can't root against us but I certainly would love to see Gary joing Wade Phillips sooner rather then later
Exactly. If he went for the INT and didn't cleanly catch it, those two jags would've grabbed it for sure, and people here would be screamingly bloody murder "WHY DIDN'T HE BAT IT DOWN?!" And people ragging on him for "batting it forward" and not down is getting old. Guys, it's a 50 yard hail mary. Do you realize how freaking improbable it is to be able to spike a freaking football traveling at that trajectory and speed? This isn't volleyball. Unfortunately the ball just happened to land in the only place on the field that would've been caught by a Jags player. An inch to the left or right and Thomas drops it. Crap luck, but not poor execution. You'd think Houston sports fans by now would understand the difference between the two.
How did you that? That looks like Tecmo bowl one of my favorites games, but texans and jags didn't exist back then...
