It's hard to say. I predicted 7-9 before the season. We could get AJ back and put up a performance like we had vs. Carolina and everybody would be optimistic and predicting playoffs again.
We still play the Titans twice, Oakland, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Cleveland, Denver, and the Jags once more. I don't think we have a shot vs. the Chargers or Colts. Not saying we'll make the playoffs, but I think we could still pull out 4 wins (Titans at home, Oakland, TB at home, Jags at home).
My only problem with Tennessee is Bud Adams, Jacksonville has Del Rio and their pompous city. The comments by their radio dudes earlier this week tore it, THEY are the Texans main rival, period.
getting 6 points on 4 red zone possessions in the 1st half is why we lost the game. However if we get calls like the Jags got today, we'll go undefeated the rest of the way.
To be accurate it was 3 red zone possessions, the 2 FG's and the Davis fumble. There was the 3 and out after the first JAX fumble which was at midfield. Aside from the possession at the end of the half when we ran out the clock, those were our only 4 possessions of the first half. I know the commentators said we were 2 for 4 in the red zone, but we've already established that they are idiots.
Not unless he was on special teams and didn't touch the ball. He definitely didn't play any at receiver. Maybe we would have seen him if we had actually forced a punt.
disappointing game but my confidence in schaub grows every week. he's very very good. doesn't really mean anything now but if green and aj hadn't missed a game thus far, we'd be 5-1 at least.
Although not as flashy, I think losing McKinney hurts the most. The passing game still worked with AJ out and I think the struggles in the run game have more to do with Flannagan replacing McKinney than Dayne replacing Green.
I don't know...we got our asses handed to us today by the Jags. We had no answer for Jones-Drew and the offense, we literally couldn't get the defense off the field.
i guess i'm a homer/optimistic. some of the situations that presented themselves and ultimately caused us to lose this afternoon and against miami, i don't think occurs if we're healthy. what does green plus johnson do for our abysmal redzone touchdown percentage? yardage in the passing game is ok, but schaub hasn't thrown a td in two games. i'm just trying to avoid the talk that this is the same old texans. there's some things to be optimistic about.
The first few weeks were loaded with crappy teams (KC, Miami, Atlanta). But we have crappy or underperforming teams later too (Oakland, New Orleans, Cleveland, Denver) although Cleveland hasn't been that bad this season.
We've gotta get Dre back. The guys we have just couldn't make big plays downfield against a good secondary, as well as in the red zone. Not to mention the left side of the line and Flanagan are playing terrible. Defense just needs to cut out the big plays and penalties.
Sad lost. Good thing I was still asleep when they played. Oh well at least one Houston team won this weekend. Go Coogs!
I tell you one thing: the Texans will have something waiting the next time they play the Jaguars. They are some cocky SOB's in Jacksonville.
Can I throw one player under the bus for this game? One player who badly underperformed was Eric Winston. I've been a fan, but he was consistently getting beat, giving up on pass blocks, and wasn't getting any push on run blocks. He was absolutely awful yesterday, and deserves a lot of the blame.
