I don't think they've been "pretty good"... adequate is a better term. Weigert was dominated last week by the Titans, and looked pretty bad on a couple of plays yesterday (especially the drive where DC trips). They still allow sacks/hurries and they still haven't grasped the zone blocking for the run... they're better, but they still have a ways to go. Weigert is the current RT... he will be replaced with Winston (a rookie). Salaam is the LT who was supposed to be a backup to Spencer (also a rookie). If all it takes is one FA center, and two rookies to make this O-line functional... that makes me even more angry at Casserly, who couldn't devote just one extra brain cell to finding a way to improve the line earlier. In the end, however, I still think they can improve at both guard positions, and one of the tackles... if the right players are available.
Exactly. My point is Carr is the leader of this team, if he hangs his head and all ... That attitude rubs off on the rest of the team. That's why he got benched in Nashville. Kuby saw 'no hope of competing' in Carr's eyes so he had to piss him off and find out what he was made of. I have never been overly enamored with Carr's play but to some degree I give him a mulligan because of multiple offensive coordinators, an incompetent coach and an incompetent GM who never gave him a legitimate chance to succeed via FA or the draft in bringing in players he needed to augment his development. He's finally showing us a little bit but, he definitely needs to show ALOT more. In the end, stats dont really mean anything if they arent translating into wins ...
But they are a good measure to evaluate whether a player is improving... especially if he plays on a team that still needs to improve in EVERY area possible before wins are to be expected.
Yes, no argument here. It's no mystery we have more holes than swiss cheese. Thanks to DC con man and his merry band of idiots.
