They were I guess trying to say we shouldve taken Reggie Bush instead of him. However, that all changed real fast after almost getting another sack. I was yelling back Mario with all the crazy New Yaukurs telling me to Sit Down. hehehe
I was at the game as well today, wearing my Carr jersey, it was a ton of fun. We got heckled a bunch walking into the stadium. I was yelled at only a couple of times by random people. What I would have done to walk out of there with a victory. It was really cool to see the Giants fans sweat the whole game. I really wish the Texans games at Reliant would be as intense. The fans at the Meadowlands are very passionate.
I bashed Carr last week. He played like a man today. The team played a good game. Mario is getting better....
proud of the team today, cept for the fumble they played a good team real tough, would have been nice to win. David was awesome today, that guy needs to show up more often, we can win with him, no doubt. Tough loss but they played like men and they shouldn't hang their heads after this one.
i assumed this would be the response. david was AWESOME?? really?? isn't that a bit extreme? he didn't have a bad game...but he didn't have a great game, either. he didn't lose the game for the texans...but he certainly didn't win it for them, either. the expectations for this first overall pick are so slight now. he passes for under 200 yards, no TD's and that's an AWESOME game. great.
Very extreme. There something about David Carr that just isn't right or isn't there. I can't pinpoint it exactly, but there is something foul about his qb play. The drop by Lundy on third down was a big miss, but to see Carr act like a complete baby on the field because of it.......I don't really know what to say about that. It's certainly alarming. And I definitely feel that the leadership in the huddle is questionable. It seems that the guys rally around Carr and say the right things because Kubiak wants the guys to do that. I don't get the sense that it's because of something that Carr brings to the table. This is clearly just my opinion and how I am viewing things, but man, something feels superficial about the whole deal.
Tough loss. That game was there for the taking. I felt like we were going to get a TD on that last drive if not for Cook's fumble. Of course, we probably would have left too much time on the clock and the Giants would have kicked a FG and ended up winning in OT, but that's neither here nor there... One thing I don't like is hearing the guys interviewed after the game. It seemed like everyone was content with the "moral" victory. This isn't college football, there is no such thing as a "moral" victory. At least there shouldn't be... I may be overreacting, but I don't like the "we lost, but we played well" attitude we seem to be taking on. That kind of attitude is a cancer and we can't let the new guys (Mario, Ryans, Spencer) see that kind of thing because we don't want it to rub off on them.
did you hear carr's interview this morning?? "yeah, it was awesome man. it was awesome to have all the guys rally around me like that. i was excited to be that spark for them." ugh. i don't think you're overreacting.
I heard part of it. (I was in the shower ) I was a little disturbed by that too. I also heard Mario laughing about doing the jumpshot after his sack. Don't get me wrong, I didn't have a problem with him doing that. I actually like watching him start to gain a swagger, like all the great defensive players have....but I saw an interview with him after the game where he was laughing about it. That's the part I had a problem with. I just don't like to see our players laughing after a loss...
This morning Granato pointed out how down the locker room was after the game, not like it has been in the past, how guys took the loss pretty hard. For whatever that's worth.
granato was talking about how they were laughing on the plane to ricky bobby. and then they talked abut fans who don't like to see players laughing after losses. its just funny that you posted this the same day.
Quoth Richard Justice: "I liked the way the Texans felt so miserable after the 14-10 loss. Kubiak is always dejected after losses. He doesn't look for silver linings. I like that. The players were angry. They were disappointed and frustrated. They didn't lose their poise or get out of control, but every player I spoke with - probably 12 to 15 - really hurt because all of them knew the Giants were ripe to be beaten, and they didn't take advantage of it." http://blogs.chron.com/nfl/2006/11/mario_almost_inhuman_carr_gets.html
seven possessions on the day; five ended in giant territory. the net results were: missed FG (after lundy dropped a 3rd down pass) punt (from the giant 38; came on a incomplete pass; why are we punting there?) field goal touchdown fumble i'm not sure what more a fan could want from their QUARTERBACK; not team, but the guy who's job is to... put his teammates in position to succeed. they didn't (including his coach) and it's carr's fault...? the texans, AS A TEAM, have played very well 2 of the past three weeks aginst two very good teams (JAX and NYG). keep in mind, they're still young, lacking sufficient talent and learning a new system. frankly, i'm at a loss how fans can't at least be encouraged right now. keep in mind, the current combined record of the team's first 8 opponents is 34-30, including a 27-13 among five of the teams- i mean, how many wins do you think they should have? i'd say 2 is about right. and here's why i'm encouraged: i think the little sparks so many are quick to dimiss are going to catch fire here very soon. their next five opponents: 16-23 (likely 24 after SEA beats OAK tonight). i think they're gonna win at least 3 of those 5; that'd put them at 5 wins with cleveland still on the schedule. if this team wins six games and continues to build on its progress thus far... it will have been a beyond-wildest-expectations successful year. as if this has anything to do with anything, but the biggest ****ing baby in the league is peyton ****ing manning, who cries and b****es and throws teammates under the bus all the time. seems to have a real detremental effect on the team, huh? so let me ask you how you'd prefer carr react to a player dropping a sure first-down and how said reaction would POSITIVELY impact the team from that moment forward? my guess?: lundy never saw carr's reaction because, unlike you and me, he wasn't watching the game on TV. but if he did see it, my guess is that it probably made him feel even worse for dropping the pass and probably gave him extra incentive to not drop another one so, at the very least, his big-baby of a quarterback wouldn't cry about it. i mean, really - how did carr's reaction hurt the team? there's a lot of **** you can dump on carr, but make-believe bull**** like this is wasting time. it's meaningless how carr reacts. no one cares but fans looking to dump on the guy.
I hope he's right. I can't imagine that it was a happy locker room after this loss. This could have been the biggest win in the last 3 years and it was there for the taking. We just couldn't close it out. All I was commenting on was Mario being interveiwed on some Texans Wrap Up show on FSN last night. Bart Ennis asked him about the jumpshot move and they were both just laughing hysterically. That was a little unsettling to me, but like I said, I don't claim to know how anyone really felt after the game yesterday.
There was also a post criticizing him of "smiling" after they failed to convert a 3rd down on a different drive... so basically, if he's angry he's a baby, and if he's not angry he doesn't care. Fans who don't like Carr are going to criticize every single thing he does.
no, but you did say he didn't win it, either... which is hard to do when backs are dropping passes, kickers are missing field goals and fullbacks are fumbling. the quarterback's job is to put his team in position to win. carr put the texans in giant territory five times. on those five drives, he was 19/28, 173 yards, converted 4 of 6 third downs with passes (and ran for two others)... what more do you want?
