Golden opportunity to pick up a half game on idle Ten and Jax. I feel the game will be a lot closer than most think. Texans 17 Falcons 14 BTW, Don Criqui and Steve Beuerlein will call the game for CBS.
No Steve Tasker?? what is the world coming to! At least we wont have to hear him slaughter Pete Faggins name this week!
I agree. The only way they go .500 is if they average at least 21 points a game. That will be difficult at best and impossible at worst when you can't protect the QB and you can't run. Seems like the scenario for season 1 and 2 for the Texans only we could not even average 14-17 points per game, especially season 1. Sometimes, with exception of the inaugural game, how did we even win once that year? Somewhat stunned about NO but, I had some doubts about their D coming into the season outside of Simoneau, Fujita and Charles Grant on the DL who on the saints D do you know about? Oh well, say hello cellar buds with ATL and Tampa and Carolina will be battlin' for the division. Wow, what a metamorphosis! ESPN must be mortified. Any bets if we see any Reggie ads this week?
I agree......grass and dirt, grass and dirt.....and despite being without many of his weapons,Matt is going to hurt them too.. ....also with a little help from big Ron Dayne,I see no reason why this game shouldn't be fairly easy.
Sporting News power rankings look better than ESPN.All four teams in the AFC south are ranked in the top 10. http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=277312 8. Houston, 2-1 (12) Just wondering, but do you suppose the Texans could have beaten Indianapolis if Andre Johnson had played?
8. Houston, 2-1 (12) Just wondering, but do you suppose the Texans could have beaten Indianapolis if Andre Johnson had played? How is this something to "just wonder"? There's no doubt in my mind that if we send our first-string receiver into the game, along with our second-string running back, and don't suffer an injury to our first-string running back, and later our second-string receiver, which would have kept us from ending the game with third-stringers, the Colts are the ones with the loss right now. The Texans lost by 6 points with no offensive weapons beyond Shaub. We'll get the weapons back, and we'll stomp a hole in Indy's ass.
I can't imagine that I'm the only one nervous about this game. I realize we're playing the Falcons, but seriously? We're without our starting center, our starting (pro bowl) wide receiver, Jacoby, and possibly our starting running back (if not our second-string running back). That's skeleton-crew of an offense. I fear the Texans actually have too much confidence going into this game. They should actually feel pretty good about how they played the Colts, in my opinion, considering the missing pieces. I hope this doesn't end up a "trap game" for the Texans. (I can't believe I just typed "trap game" and Texans in the same sentence and I wasn't referring to the teams the other way around...)
I understand what you're saying and I'd agree with you more if they just folded against the Colts without all of those players. With the injuries, they still had a chance to win that game. Dayne will be back (I assume this is a good thing) and it's not like they're going with some kid at center. Mike Flanagan is pretty good, he just got beat out by McKinney. The D should keep Atlanta very much in check and I trust that Schaub will find a way to get the ball in the endzone. I think Owen Daniels is going to have a big day. Walters needs to finally step up and prove he should have been the #2.
Either Ron Dayne or Ahman will light up the ATL D.. That will be the attack, and the game will stay low-scoring. The D-line will force some horrible Harrington-esque throws from Harrington resulting in some TO's or just sacks = field position! 17-7 W
Schaub kind of reminded me of Tom Brady (2006) last week in the sense that he was still able to complete passes and move the ball with a less than stellar receiving corp. Andre Davis stepped up when he came into the game. I expect him and Walter to do it again on Sunday. The Falcons may suspend starting CB DeAngelo Hall for a game after the way he lost it against the Panthers. That can only help our passing game. By the way, did anybody notice that Carr played against the Falcons last week? He was 4-5 but not surprisingly, also took a sack.
This could very easily be a "trap" game, but with all of the injuries to the team, I don't believe the players will take the Falcons lightly.
